Like, you don't need to witness a kangaroo in Australia with your own eyes to know they exist...
but professor oak is only one person. even with real life media it's impossible for any scientist to know everything about everything. there's knowledge of nearly every animal in Australia... that doesn't mean everybody in America will know about them.
not only that, but it's just a game. EVERY game does this when sequels come out. Metroid game... why can't the bitch learn to not lose her gear? RPG's... why am i starting over at level 1? or why couldn't I do whatever the first time? Halo... why does my battle rifle not 3 round burst anymore?
