Super 8 = Cloverfeild prequel

Apparently I'm not the only one that thinks this...I googled it and other people seem to think this. It may not be a prequel, but it's the same monster and same plot (kinda) minus the first person perspective.

I haven't watched it (I will next week though, I planned on it when I heard about it but I completely forgot) but reading around, J.J Abrams apparently already denied it, and that's kind of all the info you need. Matt Reeves (the director of Cloverfield) said there will be a sequel, they just don't know when. I don't think there would be reason to deny Super 8's connection with Cloverfield if it really were apart of it in one way or another. In fact, if they did say it was affiliated with Cloverfield it would only be a positive impact because Cloverfield fans would haul ass and check out Super 8. Right?
