Those are all stretched logic. Carl is scared as fuck...yet he pulls out a gun and aims perfectly at his head? What stopped him from pointing at the zombie then?
High adrenaline doesn't make you deaf, he was in a WTF mode, but if you look at Rick's facial expression, he doesn't seem to notice that there is a zombie growling behind him.
Some other moments of bad writing on top of my head.
In S1E4...instead walking all the way to the camp, why not simply steal an abandoned car? The "Vatos" episode was terrible. So a group of orderlies and geriatric patients can hold out against the entire zombie population of downtown Atlanta, but the military was completely overrun?
People standing around in the clothing store while walkers continue to pile up against the GLASS doors. They only leave when one randomly grabs a rock to break the glass. Haven't seen any other rock-wielding zombies since...
In S2's opener (last episode I've seen), Rick going after Sophia, knowing she was being chased by a zombie, without so much as a hammer. But then if he simply kills the zombie, and doesn't tell directionally challenged Sophia to hide and wait, Sophia wouldn't be lost. Perfect example of character acting stupid in order to move the plot forward.
Those things on top of my head. If I watched the show, I'm pretty sure I'd notice more stupid writing. No wonder the show drop from 9.4 to 8.7 in IMDB.
I really wanted to like the show. Even if I chalked up the awful writing, most of the character are terrible.
