help with music videos please

does anyone know how to get streaming videos on your desktop so you can convert them and put them on your ipod?
i tried searching in temporary files and found the videos but they were the video name than .asx files and are links to the websites i watched the videos from. so any help from anyone will be appreaciated. i'll try to return the favor any way i can
