Last Breath

I can't forget the most recent tragedy and needed to write something. I found a song w/ the name I liked, heard 1 stanza - and did what I usually do - put on the music, closed my eyes and simply typed.

I'm at a loss for words for something so horrific. Maybe it's too soon but - daily.. daily... I read the news and find so many innocents killed by fault of others arrogant mistakes or - on purpose.

Last Breath

The shadows come alive
as I have never seen

hushed whispers in the dark
confusion and fear

what happens now
I mentally scream
emotions welling up
fear overwhelming me

where is my life
where is my hope


gone to me
slipping away
as I breathe my last breaths

it’s all appearing before me
my then – my now
my everything

emotions – loves – loss
all of it

don’t let me go
hold me – I plead

I need to stay
I need to be here

I don’t want to go
dont let me go

please…


every breath I breathe – fading now
every tear i shed – my last

I need to be okay
I need to simply walk back home
and let all of this be
but a bad memory

Alas…
the shadows are finding me now
as I sigh to my last breath

At what point when you read the piece is the heavy piano meant to kick in?

There are alot of pauses in it - and a long pause at the beginning. When the emotion in the writing picks up.

The last notes in the music are for the last lines... The work I do here is meant to be illustrated/animated..... so I can weave around where the words drop off and then pick up again.

I'm still not sure what I will craft for this - but it will come to me... eventually.
