Katy Perry won Video of the Year at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, and everybody was so happy for her that nobody made fun of the 12-inch tall yellow square that was perched diagonally on top of her head for no clear reason. In winning the top honor, Katy beat Adele, Beastie Boys, Bruno Mars and Best New Artist winner Tyler, the Creator. She previously bagged Best Collaboration and Best Special Effects, both thanks to her Kanye West-featuring video for "E.T."
Although losing Video of the Year to Katy, Adele is a big winner. She pocketed a total of four coveted awards; Best Art Direction, Editing, Cinematography, and Direction, for her "Rolling in the Deep" video.
The other winners include Justin Bieber (Best Male Video), Beyonce Knowles (Best Choreography), Britney Spears (Best Pop Video), Nicki Minaj (Best Hip-Hop), and Foo Fighters (Best Rock Video). When accepting the award, Brit thanked her two boys Sean Preston and Jayden James and told her boyfriend Jason Trawick that she loved him. Check out the full list of winners below.
