Would be easier to restrict coorporations from making more cars that harm enviroment, wen they only make the cars because they wanna make money, and public transport is non profitable. - that wouldnt lessent the chances of dying from disasters.

But if u really to think of it, every planet will have its dangers, and they all have almost equal chances of being hit by metoeors or being sucked in by black holes.

I think the only way we will ever pursue technology to live somewhere else is when the earth is fucked. (America is leading the way, go us, I have come to terms that we will not be a superpower in 100 years, probably 50 waaaah, anyway) So basically the technology will appear when earths climate goes insane. we're parasites and we'll only move when there is nothing left here, or just die.

I can definately imagine planets being used for resources infuture, and i assume if that happens we are gonna have to have expedition ships to check planets.
