I think that would only happen if the second amendment in the Bill of Rights was changed, and there would be an absolute shitstorm if that happened here. I could really see someone attempting to assassinate Obama if that were to happen.

Unless you are referring to the gun culture 200+ years ago in which case I'd argue it has changed a lot over those years but your laws have not.
