Up until the last 2 mins or so it's an incredibly boring song - one of the few I didn't like on MMLP2.
It's not horrible just overrated, IMO.

I sort of agree

I typed a really long post about why it's fucking awesome sometime ago, I'll see if I can still find it.

I don't think any of the verses in Stan are boring imo. I think the verses seem to get better and better with the 3rd and 4th verses being some of his greatest writing ever.

and that's basically the same thing with bad guy .. so there is no reason to call it 'boring' since these verses are set-up verses

Haha I find this funny because I just saw a movie yesterday where they made a couple references to the old Michael Keaton Batman and the new Christian Bale Batman. I don't wanna say the title of the movie though in case peeps haven't seen it yet.

The first two verses in "Stan" are in way more depth and like I said before, all adds up to the third verse and the main message of the song. You feel like you learn the character, you can sense how fucking psycho he is within four minutes.

"Bad Guy" doesn't offer that, and I know it isn't supposed to because it'd ruin the surprise but he could have maybe gone in a bit more depth in the second verse.

If he went in depth too much when it comes to Matthew's character, the last verse wouldn't have made as much sense. The set up is perfect. I mean, who knew that it was a sequel during the first 2 verses ? You can argue about "knowing" stan better, that's true, but you(the listener) weren't really supposed to get into Matthew "that" much since the last verse is the most important piece of that song. This is why I like it so much more.

Heck, ya'll can like whatever you want, but whenever someone brings Bad Guy up certain people are always there to shit/criticize a song for stupid reasons.

Bad guy was cleary written specifically for the first listen, with it's vague verses to keep his fans wondering wtf is going on, then he surprises us with the momunental latter part of the track and moves most of us in ways we never knew music could :'(.
As for replay value, it loses that first listen feeling so it kind of feels like it's dragging a bit.
Stan clearly has more replay value, but Bad Guys 4th verse shits on all of Stans verses imo

The first two verses in "Stan" are in way more depth

No, they aren't. In fact, both Stan and Bad Guy follow the same pattern of normal fan -> angry fan -> clearly psychotic fan, in their first, second and third verses, with Stan having the psychosis start towards the end of the second verse at:
"I even got a tattoo with your name
across the chest
Sometimes I even cut myself to see
how much it bleeds..."
I would even go as far as saying Bad Guy does a better job of explaining it's character's motivations than Stan. In Bad Guy, it's clear from the first verse that revenge is Matthew's motive, while Stan feels like more of a psychotic break, it felt like he "snapped", going from "I cut myself" levels of weird to "Imma kill myself and my pregnant girlfriend" insanity.
all adds up to the third verse and the main message of the song. You feel like you learn the character, you can sense how fucking psycho he is within four minutes.

As do the first two verses of Bad Guy; since the entire point of Bad Guy is consequences, it wouldn't make sense if we didn't know what, exactly, Matthew was so angry about.
It does the exact same job as the first two verses of Stan; explaining character motivation.
It's really puzzling that people think.the first two verses of Bad Guy are boring (fuck it, I might have to make this a thread), even after repeat listens, yes the "suspense" is lost (rme) but, really, do you re-listen to the first and second verses of Stan in breathless anticipation of Stanley's fate?
Don't you listen to 97 Bonnie and Clyde today irrespective of the fact that you already know how the story ends?
Don't y'all re-read novels?
It's the same thing, really.
The narrator's identity is way to unimportant of a detail to detract from enjoyment of the song.
The second verse of Bad Guy, as with big brother Stan is essential because it is where we start to suspect that the line between anger and madness have begun to blur.
Where Stanley's moment comes when he admits that he cuts himself to see how much it bleeds, and his assertion that no one knows Em like he does, Matthew's starts to become apparent when he claims that Eminem "played" him as he did Stan, his delusional sense of entitlement, the fact that he's cycling between obvious rage at one moment and making punny jokes in almost the same length (so nobody thought that was abnormal?) and, well, the fact that he's trying to, you know, kill Eminem.
...
Okay, I was going to write up a full breakdown of the song and make it a new topic, but I'm bored now.

Bad Guy is phenomenal, as is stan. I enjoy the build up of Bad guy more than i do Stan. Its like a really intense movie, one that i love, so going through the rest of the plot isnt "boring" to me. I love how each verse progressively gets more intense as to whats unfolding. I dont think knowing the twist makes the song less repayable, because its still enjoyable musically. I think what he saying in the fourth verse of Bad guy is a lot more interesting to hear than anything he says in Stan. Bad Guy definitely deserves its praise ,but I do think its premature to have it in the top 10.
" Life can change your directions, even when you ain't planned it
All you can do it handle it, worst thing you can do is panic
Use it to your advantage, avoid insanity manage
To conquer, every obstacle, make impossible possible
Even when winning illogical, losing is still far from optional.." -T.I.
