lol this is weird... I saw in a couple of magazines here in SL sayin dat EMINEM tops da chart..lol without even mentionin AKON. and only puttin eminems picture everytime..

And da T shirt franchise here is crazy. There was a time u can see about 20 Eminem t shirts if u go out.not confined to da city. but to da rural areas. Now da tide has changed a lil. It has moved to Jon Cena T Shirts..(see da resemblance ...lol )

I still can get da crowd movin better performin REAL SLIM SHADY comparin to a new hip hop song.lol... SRI LANKA loves eminem...

reason...hmmmmm i think well SL was really into da pop culture ... but da new age dont like pop. at least dont like to admit they like pop.
And EMINEM bridged da gap...

well here the only big rappers eminem and 50 cen, but only with songs like just lose it, candy shop, real tracks no one likes, and the main music is dance/techno stuff, and pop andto go to further this point ive been in over 10 shops tryig to get nas hip hop is dead and not one had it

and @ cgame , have you ever thought of getting your stuff played over-seas so to speak, im sorry to say idk were sri lanka is ( imma check on google in a minute) but your group has the equipment and man power for strong radio play, and like you sayed if sri lanka aint pure hip hop you should try get it to other areas to get yourself heard, i suppose the website and stuff do this to a point you should team up with TR for some advertisment and stuff and start getting your group into a true hip hop audience, coz its original and like i said has all the stuff needed to make a go at it

hes also famous here..there r alot of ppl love or listen to eminem but haters too..the ones listen to hardrock or metal..they think some1 who listens to rock-metal music cant listen to rap or hiphop..still couldnt figure it out why thats so stupid..anyways..hes known all over the world..n in each coutries hes gettin more famous i guess..alot more countries n ppl know him now more than they used to..wish 1day he'd come here for a concert n id go

Here in Norway everyone knows about Eminem .. but he got known after the song Without Me. .. but they dont have any rap-hip hop stores where u can buy Shady posters and Shady clothes. Most of the people dont like Eminem ... But his songs has topped the lists many times ..Most of the people listen to regular pop and/or Rock !

But I am a true Eminem fan !!

@ bar -- Bro i feel u ... but now SL is turnin hip hop... actually in talent competitions thr never was hip hop events ( or a different category for hip hop )

even though we performed under group categories and even won .. never came first but was in da first 3...

and next year da biggest event had a hip hop category which we won and became champs ,, and got us in da paper..
and as for goin to da INternational thingy all i can say is we need time..
right now its TR.. imma in deals with mart85 and maybe to do some collabarations for our official hailztorm cd.

and as for da introduction of hip hop ill say EMINEM played a huge role here in SL....

songs like mockin bird , cleanin out ma closet has been succesfull in capturin da mature audience here in SL

Eminem is popular here, even since "My Name Is". Ireland is fairly up to date with Popular hip-hop, ever since Mtv became available in the nineties. But before that the only rap I'd heard was N.W.A, House Of Pain, SNoop, Dre, CypressHill, Tupac, Ll Cool J and a few others. Would never have heard Rakim, Biggie, Nas, etc. You don't hear that music over here, you gotta look for it, all the record stores stock it, but you aren't gonna buy it, if you're not aware of it. It's such a shame, so much great lesser-known and underground artists been ignored, and I never would have heard them only for Mtv and the internet!

But, no matter how popular Eminem is, pop and rock will always be more succesful in Ireland I think, over hip-hop.

I remember that time when I saw loads of people in SL wearing Eminem T shirts and played his music in their cars. I also remember when they played his music videos on ETV which is an English Channel in SL. His music was also on the radio 24/7 back in that time period. I wonder if there are still massive Eminem fans in SL now?

I remember when Sri Lanka use to do Eminem T shirts as well as play his music videos on SL TV and on SL radio. I remember seeing like 30 people wearing Eminem T shirts in the city. This was 10 years ago but I remember it like it was yesterday. I still hear his music being played in shops when I go there on holiday sometimes and people still really like his music I've liked his music since 2002
