Focus… Speaks On Leaving Aftermath

Postby fearless31666 » May 30th, '09, 21:47

After weeks of rumors, it has been confirmed by former Aftermath producer Focus… himself. Read the short interview below! Make sure to add Focus on Myspace: Myspace.com/presentsdedicated

Aftermathmusic.com:
First off, how do you feel Foc?

Focus…:
I feel good. Very positive… Thanks for asking.

Aftermathmusic.com:
So, why did you leave Aftermath? Is it because of the whole Interscope thing or what are the reasons?

Focus…:
It was more along the lines of my deal coming up to an option and I just thought I had given all I could to the Math and nothing I did was coming out. It was time for me to stand on my own two.

Aftermathmusic.com:
Are you still working with Dr. Dre on some upcoming projects?

Focus…:
I know we said that we would definitely want to work in the future. I would definitely be up for it.

Aftermathmusic.com:
Looking back at the time on the math. Whats’s your most important impressions from the start till the end?

Focus…:
If I’m reading this question right, just seeing how my work ethic effected my longevity at the Math. Dre knows I always have been loyal and a very hard worker for him. It has made me a much better producer.

Aftermathmusic.com:
What type of feedback did you get from people after leaving Aftermath?

Focus…:
All positive! I have love for everyone commenting and sending me blessings and best wishes. I really appreciate it all..

Aftermathmusic.com:
So what have you been working on right now in the lab? Who have you been working with?

Focus…:
Awww man. I’m currently working on Christina Aguilera’s new project (huge blessing), my boy Sterling Simms new project “Bongbong” (laughs), my big lil sis Marsha Ambrosius, my boy Hal Linton, Busta Rhymes, and rebuilding my label, a.Fam Entertainment!

My artists KIDA and AL GATOR are currently working on projects while my execs are busy aquiring new talent. It’s exciting man.

Aftermathmusic.com:
So when can we actually, realistically like expect the album “Homage”?

Focus…:
I did the “Homage” records to keep real music alive and relevant. I want to still work on the project, but I’m waiting for a bigger response. People aren’t really into my stuff as of yet. I’m still building my Fam base.

Aftermathmusic.com:
Can you tell us more about the album?

Focus…:
The initial PAY HOMAGE is dedicated to the hip hop producers that helped structure my sound, my drive and my career. There are plenty more but I thought 14 at a time would make it less overwhelming (laughs).

Aftermathmusic.com:
What about aFam Records now! When can we expect the next release? Is it Epik?

Focus…:
Well, it’s now called a.Fam Entertainment and the projects are just being put together. Don’t want to put false dates out there and not meet the expectations you know.

Epik and I have talked and I will be helping him with his endeavours most definitely.

Aftermathmusic.com:
Is there anything else you’d like to say?

Focus…:
Yes, I won’t be on twitter or facebook so keep up with me on myspace or hit my brother at twitter/therealphd. He loves that sh*t. Much love to Dre and everyone at the Math for everything they contributed to my career. WATCH ME DO MY THING!!

Aftermathmusic.com:
Thank you Foc. Keep in touch!

Focus…:
Most definitely fam… Much love and respect.
