Sources say that Dr. Dre and Interscope Records CEO Jimmy Iovine have filed a lawsuit against a Delaware based company over an oral breach of contract.
Filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the suit alleges that SLS International, Jibe Audio, Pentgram Design Inc. and Steve Lamar failed to honor an agreement they had with Dre and Iovine , to "manufacture, market and distribute a line of headphones" with the given marketing title "Beats By Dr. Dre."
The suit also alleges the aforementioned parties planned to distribute the headphones through a different company and secretly attempted to register a trademark in the 'Beats' name.
Dre and Iovine are seeking damages of "at least $1,000,000" and an injunction that prevents the companies from manufacturing and selling headphones using the "Beats" trademark and design.
