50 Cent was released from police custody late Friday afternoon (September 8), after being hauled away earlier in the day in Midtown New York for alleged traffic violations.
As SOHH previously reported, 50 (born Curtis Jackson) was pulled over in his silver Lamborghini around 2 pm near Madison Square Garden because he was driving erratically.
After failing to produce a driver's license or proof of insurance to the plainclothes policemen who stopped him, the Queens bred rapper was cuffed and taken to the nearest precinct while his vehicle was towed away.
According to The New York Post, authorities revealed that they slapped 50 with cuffs and took him away from the scene because the gathering crowd was becoming a problem and they needed to run a warrant check on the G-Unit honcho.
At the station, 50 was given four summonses: one for driving with an expired permit, one for driving an unregistered vehicle, one for driving without insurance and one for an unsafe lane change.
Two members of 50 Cent's crew arrived soon after and provided proof that the Lamborghini was insured and registered. They were then allowed to drive off with the car, police sources said.
50 was released within an hour and faces as much as $220 in fines and surcharges.
