I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Encore was released with the intended playlist, and the added tracks were included on a 'Fucking Around in the Lab EP', then the latter would be perfectly fine. All artists mess around and produce their own music, it's what artists' do, and it's difficult to condemn an artist for having such variety.

Encore had a number of awful tracks by Eminem standards; those that were good were still fairly average, and the best were up to the mark of his previous 'good tracks'; however this just adds variety to Eminem's discography, and for that (and the fact it's poor reception led to more music) I am thankful.

As it happens music isn't just about have perfectly formulated lyrics with a meaningful hook and a plethora of multies. If it sounds good to your ears and you enjoy it then the artist has succeeded. And I will put myself out there and say that I can honestly enjoy listening to Rainman and My 1st Single; the former for it's blatant retardedness (perhaps purposeful) and the latter for being annoying to the point of genius.

Encore is not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

It starts off very strong, the middle portion is fucked but it ends strong again...and honestly, it would have been great had the intended songs not leaked and pissed Em off. It's a shame.

I agree with this almost 100%.

What always got me were 2 things.

1. Mosh was a great idea, not executed as I would have liked (flowed too slow and didnt give it that extra umphh it could have needed) and was released too late for the election (if that was his intention).

2. Yellow brick road I never liked, barely ever listened to it and I still bumped a lot of encore. It was just so boring to me.

Encore overall did have some great verses and some pretty good songs. But the combination of a few horrible song concepts and the slow flow, which kind of showed he was off his game, as well as the lack of lyricism really bothered me to the point I kind of hate this album even as I enjoy a handful of songs.
