Lose Yourself is the best song ever made

This part is pretty bad in particular:

well, I know he had already used something similar to end "Any Man" but it's far from being "pretty bad". It's actually quite dope.

Rabbit Run is pretty average. Pretty lazy how he uses "shit" four times in the opening rhyme scheme.

As good as 8 Mile Road is, it's not even in the same universe as Lose Yourself.

That's the whole point of that part. Sometimes he can't find the words to rhyme... hence why that part wasn't the usual complexity of rhyming that Em had back then.

And then right after that, he goes back to the kick-ass flow/rhyming. You're disregarding the WHOLE rest of the song to focus on a misconstrued part.

Everything is perfect in that song. People got interested in rhyme schemes because of it. (And I mean casual people, not rappers who already knew how to rhyme), that piano/vinyl scratch intro is dope as fuck and everyone knows it.
That guitarish beat is amazing, and again, it's really hard not to recognize the song. The chorus is catchy, motivating. It pumps you up.

The verses are perfect. 15/10 would listen again.

The best song ever made? Ever made? No. I don't think I can put Lose Youself ahead of a couple Michael Jackson or James Brown songs yet. Now best hip-hop song ever? Debatable but for me it's Walk This Way.

I'm guessing you're drawing that comparison due to the somethin/somethin/somethin and sometimes/sometimes/sometimes thing, but that's where the similarities end.

One is a clever, creative joke that breaks the fourth wall. The other is Eminem rambling about writer's block (and he appears to be in writer's block), where he uses "time" three times in the same uncreative, monosyllabic rhyme scheme. The repetition in the last bar of the Any Man verse has a point to it (it's a joke)...the repetition in RR is just pointless filler.

No, not just that. I was drawing comparison due to the intentionally ironic (?) nature of the RRR lines although now I realize they are nothing like the Any Man bar. My bad.

I suppose Eminem could be commenting on his own writer's block by writing about writer's block in such an uncreative way...but somehow I think that's a huge reach.

This. Exactly the type of artistry Eminem is known for and is faaaaaaaar from a reach.

I don't think Eminem's point is that he is writing crap. He's trying to say that JImmy Smith Jr. is writing crap, and Jimmy is throwing his poor lyrics in the trash. Eminem is trying to write well...and he isn't. He's merely doing OK (I have to give him credit for sticking to a concept for a few bars).

I meant just the narrator in general, persona he has adopted is immaterial to the point.

Saying a not so ingenious line with a following excuse for the former or the vice versa.

I think that Lose Yourself is GOAT, but I also think that 8 Mile Road is better than Lose Yourself.
