I mean, don't get me wrong, the way Blu puts his point across can rub you the wrong way. But The Eminem Show got a lot of hate from Eminem fans back in the day for a reason. Overall, the album is a very cohesive and impressive work. I don't believe, however, that the weaker songs from TES stand up as well alone as the weaker songs on the two LPs that preceded it.
Is it a classic? Yes, I'd say so. For that reason, Blu is wrong in my eyes. His point about some of the songs being weaker than the other albums rings true for me. It isn't as raw or gritty as his albums prior. He does stick to a formula of sorts for that album, but that's what makes it so solid. It's a tradeoff, to some extent.

AbramIsaac wrote:I agree with you about everything except MMLP being more consistent. I'm not sure it's less consistent, per se, but TES is very consistent production-wise to me. Relapse would probably be the most consistent, with Beautiful being the only one that sticks out.
But yeah, TES is not an average album by any means. I suppose one could make the argument that it's average for an Eminem album, but that would undoubtedly fall to personal preference.
