Agree with this. It is hard to find better story telling tracks out there.

@ Cosh

You agree it's ground breaking but don't think it is lyrical? What exactly makes it ground breaking then? The beat?

"Not lyrical"..."Kim" is some of the best lyricism of Eminem's career.

And it has plenty of fucking multis. Do more than 5-6 people on this board even know what multis ARE? I'm really starting to wonder with idiotic threads like this.

And LOL @ "it doesn't have a great concept like 97 Bonnie and Clyde." It's part of the exact same concept, dipshit. It's the prequel to 97 B&C.

The lyrics are mostly one syllable. so....wrong

I never said the word multis

'97 Bonnie & Clyde is him explaining his wifes murder to his daughter in baby talk(brilliant). and Kim is him just screaming at his wife. so....wrong again

LOL, fucking idiot

The fact that he's able to do all of those in such a seamless, vivid tale is incredible. And yet it sails over your vacant skull.

And yeah, Kim is him shouting at his wife after he'd murdered her new husband/step-son...then dragging her along with him in the car and killing her in the woods.

It's all part of the same fucking story, idiot.

Kim is immense. I listen to it quite a bit suprisingly. Defo hits my top 20 Eminem songs.

Ahhh yes, they want tracks to be super-lyrical, even when it's uncalled for. :coffee:

Nothing like having a track crammed with too many syllables and using awkward words that you don't use in your every day language, just to sound smart.

I call it the Pretentious Canibus Syndrome, PCS for short.

Also Kim and '97 Bonnie and Clyde have SIMILAR stories, but the concept is different. Kim is basically the prequel to '97 Bonnie and Clyde, but just written AFTER. He writes Kim as a cinematic track where the audience can watch in, but he takes the concept to the next level with B&C. With how he explains it to his daughter. uses baby talk. etc.

I think Kim is brilliant at what it does. To construct lyrics that sound like everyday...well, "conversation" is not quite the right word for it...is just utter genius. IMO the song is creepy as hell because it manages to sound "real".

I think Kim is dope, but is not really a song that I´d play too many times. Kinda like Stan, it loses its touch after a while, but I´d still consider it a classic.

What really pisses me off is that everyone is (and was at the time it came out) bitching about how violent this song is,how he could do sth like this to her, blah blah blah
Yeah it's offensive and I'm sure she was hmmm upset to say the least but I think it's actually about him and not his wife,if I ever recorded a song like that about someone who hurt me I'd feel like the whole world saw me naked.Probably worse actually. So to me,the most shocking thing about "Kim" is not the violence but the extent to which he exposes his feelings.Takes nuts to put out something like this

I thought it had really good lyrics for an argument over an instrumental.

I've listened to it maybe 3 times in my life. Definitely one of my lower 20 or so Em tracks. It's obvious he wasn't trying to make it a "good song" as much as he was doing what he wanted because he wanted to, which gives it an extra point or two in my book.. but it's just not listenable unless you specifically want that song to listen to, which is a rare occasion.
