TES- 10/10
MMLP- 10/10
Recovery-9.5/10
SSLP- 9/10
Relapse- 8/10
Encore- 5/10
Recovery over SSLP? That's weird.
I sorta agree with Emadyville.
It was tough. But when you think about it its difficult to compare them two for several reasons.
1. length of time between albums (10 to 11 years).
2. When you heard them (sslp was new to me but 2 years old when i bought it, while recovery was brand new and I was a fan for a decade then)
3. What you knew/heard from em (recovery i had heard everything, sslp i had heardthe mmlp and some other random songs/features)
4. Total songs (recovery had 17 and one feature, while the sslp had 14 with 2 features)
5. I'll lump these 2- voice (obvious reasons) and personal things (sslp was first and he was trying to make it, recovery had him at the top and had done so much, so the content differs so much).
6. This is the final one, but unique songs. To me a unique song is a concept or style thats never been done before by that artist, at least for arguments sake and this thread. And to me they are:
SSLP:
My Name Is (but he did that again a few times on first singles)
Guilty Conscious-Great concept
Rock Bottom-But If I Had was similar and on the same album
Role Model-But he did similar things in later albums/songs
Just Dont Give a Fuck-but repeated that with SDGAF and Criminal
As the World Turns-great, random, excellent storytelling and rhyming but in a sense done again as well
Recovery:
Almost Famous-Stands out to me, so unique as telling his career but in a crazy lyrical way
25 to Life-Done by other rappers, but his is arguably the best. But going on just being the artists career, unique as hell.
Space Bound/LTWYL- Similar songs in a sense, but unique to em.
Youre Never Over- Unique in a sad way, but still never done before.
On Fire- a track like this on an album? Yeah, never really done before, altho I can see how some would argue me saying that.
Not Afraid-Different single and different style then ever before.
No Love-Simply for having another big name artist on his album and doing a track like this, especially and mainly because he not only kills it, but murders waynes verse.
Seduction- Cocky in a way hes never done before, and clever in the same sense imo
Won't Back Down-having a pop artist sing the hook and go all out with metaphors and wordplay, never done before.
WTP-Party type track hes tried, but never really in this style which I like.
See, to me, its all about weird things and I see it really differently. Both are amazing, I just put recovery slightly ahead of the sslp. And only cause Im bored I went to length to explain lol
