mosh-great song
we as americans-great song
never enough-good song
love you more-good song
encore-good song
ricky ticky toc-ok song
rain man-ok song
and then everything else is bad but overall still a ok album

There has been so many threads about how it's not that bad.

"Like Toy Soldiers" is great.
"Mockingbird" is great.
"Mosh" is incredible and one of my favorites from Em.
"Love You More" is great.
"We As Americans" is great.
"Encore" is an awesome little dance song.

The rest are forgettable or just plain terrible.

As a whole, I don't think Encore was such an awful album.

The highlights of the album for me are:
• Mockingbird
• Like Toy Soldiers
• Spend Some Time
• Crazy in Love
• Encore
• Mockingbird
• We As Americans (love this song)

The reason why Encore has such a bad reputation is due to a few factors such as his flow and content.

The main factor I believe is his rhyming. Pre-Encore, Eminem was one of the best lyricists in the game. Encore took a step down in regards to his rhyming. The rhyming wasn't awful on every song, but a lot of it was. Take Ass Like That as an example.

Although the album did feature some good rhyming, particularly the bonus track "We As Americans". His multi's were on point on that album, delivery was good and it was a great track.

"Fuck money, I don't rap with dead presidents
I'd rather see the president dead
It's never been said but I set precedents"

I remember watching something on TV and these lyrics were praised by a professor. (I believe it was a professor)

Another example of decent rhyming would be on the track "Spend Some Time".

"Almost went as far as introducing you to my daughters
Till you went as far as goin' and snoopin' through my drawers
Now I just feel stupid for the loop that you threw me for
Can't believe I almost flew the coop for some stupid whore"

I think these lyrics were wrote during the TES era as the rhyming is pretty impressive.

But as a whole, it was a decent album.

Fact is, it had so much to live up to especially after his first three. The awful tracks on the album did it no favours and affects people's views on the rest of the album which isn't too bad at all.

it wasn't terrible at all. songs were great, but it wasn't as hard or raw as SSLP, MMLP or TES.
It did have a few songs that did, but wasn't consistent throughout

still love encore though

It's not hated on enough IMO.

His verse on Spend Some Time, the vibe of Like Toy Soldiers and parts of Yellow Brick Rd are the only decent moments in the whole CD.

It's an absolute shambles of an album. My 1st Single, Ass Like That, Puke, Mockingbird, Just Lose IT, One Shot 2 Shot, Big Weenie, the features on Spend Some Time are on another level of bad. Crazy In Love, Mosh, Never Enough, Rain Man, Encore, Like Toy Soldiers and Evil Deeds are all poor, Yellow Brick Rd is pretty good.

I lost all credibility for Rolling Stone's reviews when they gave Encore a higher rating than SSLP - that's enough reason to bring the death penalty back (in the UK).

I hate Like Toy Soldiers, Ass like That, Spend Some Time, Evil Deeds and My first single.

I don't like Mosh, Encore, Big Weenie and Just Lose it

The other songs on the album are pretty good. So I think It does deserve its hate. But I don't hate it

It does have some highlights but the album as a whole sounds so sloppy.

Don't hate, this is my opinion & personally I think Encore is a good album. If you think otherwise, explain.

You ranked Big Weenie, Rain Man & My First Single above 8 points? What the fuck. :shakehead:

I don't even have to explain anything that's absurd and i don't care if it's your opinion because that is an insult to Eminem and Hip-Hop in general.

As much as you may like the song, giving Big Weenie a fucking 8.5 is blasphemy.

I still fail to understand why Mockingbird is a bad song. The ticking-drums are a little lazy but the atmosphere that the piano creates makes up for it.

First verse isn't that great but builds up nicely to the second which is an amazing verse. I've heard him rhyme better but that kind of honesty outshines such "flaws". Delivery sucks? Like Stan, it works better, rhetorically, when he raps like he is actually talking.

Yellow brick road is also a pretty good song although it seems a little ambitious to tell your "whole" lifestory in 3-4 minutes. Mosh is a respectable effort, while Like Toy Soldiers is up there with some of his better tracks.

A shame some of the tracks leaked cus the album would have been much better if he included Love You More and We As Americans on the album. Same thing happened to Nas' I am (tracks later ended up on Lost Tapes).
