Sing for the moment appreciation

Postby kiki » May 7th, '12, 18:08

Ok so I've liked this song ever since I was a 16 yr old teenager trying to find my way in this crazy world.
I have a loooot of songs in my car mp3 player and yesterday while I was driving into the night SFTM came on - and it just HIT ME.

If anyone asked me how to define this generation I'd make him listen to that song. When I was a teenager everything Em describes in that song was true and now that I am a teacher I see things from a different perspective but the subject matter hasn't changed - at all. I wish it had considering Eminem has always been the kind of artist to me who can change things and views on situations through his lyrics. But that was obviously just me.

And actually yesterday was the first time that I fully understood the genius in the rhymes be great/degrade/teach hate...I always knew those were the lyrics but it's like I never got the meaning. My meaning that is.

So respond if you agree :D
August 22 2013 - from Berlin to Paris, 400€ spent just for Eminem. IT WAS WORTH EVERY SINGLE CENT!

I was never much of a fan of that song; it just never stood out to me. It's a pretty good song, though.

My favorite on TES. I was 12/13 back in 02/03 and I didn't know English good enough to understand what he was saying, but just the sound of it was awesome. It always brings me back to that time period. I remember watching the video on TV and getting extra excited. There wasn't YouTube back then so I would spend hours waiting for my favorite videos to pop up on some TV channel.

Easily Emimnem's best song ever. It's so fucking well put together.
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

I think Eminem should have made the single of "The Eminem Show" go in this order, it would have sold more and more of the music would have been heard:

1.) Without Me
2.) Cleanin' Out My Closet
3.) Sing For The Moment
4.) 'Till I Collapse
5.) Superman
6.) Hailie's Song
7.) Soldier
8.) Say Goodbye Hollywood

If it went in this order, I feel the album would have sold even more and nearly all these songs would have been massive hits, 'Till I Collapse especially. I think that in between Superman & Hailie's Song is when Lose Yourself would be released along with the movie: 8 Mile, this would have made the following singles feel fresh after that massive hit. Then after they pushed out Say Goodbye Hollywood they should have released Love Me as a single with Stimulate as the final single to end this theoretical amazing run.

Anyway, SFTM is an amazing song all around. It's perfection.

Edit:

It would have gone:

1.) Without Me
*The Eminem Show is released*
2.) Cleanin' Out My Closet
3.) Singe For The Moment
4.) 'Till I Collapse
5.) Superman
6.) Lose Yourself
*8 Mile OST is released*
7.) Wanksta
8.) Hailie's Song
9.) Soldier
10.) Say Goodbye Hollywood
11.) In Da Club
12.) Love Me
13.) Stimulate
14.) One Day At A Time
*GRODT is released*

Just image that run with power house singles such as 'Till I Collapse & Lose Yourself keeping the hype high as fuck, and if In Da Club was released before Love Me, then that song could have been massive as well. Then to wrap things up, you release One Day At A Time with 2Pac for all that was worth leading into GRODT.

yeah this song is flawless.. 3rd vese is the best tho. both in what hes saying and delivery. He doesnt even seem angry really, but he just says it with so much conviction. Kinda like on renegade only better.

Not my favorite from TES, but an undeniable classic. That third verse man, it's almost impossible to believe that's the same guy from the Slim Shady LP.

SFTM is a perfect song.
@ Man1x, I don`t think that SFTM would be a good single. Not because of the song, but because of the people. People just don`t know how to appreciate songs like that. It doesn`t have Rihanna on the hook or a banging beat.

What are you saying? SFTM was single. The 4 single. I agree with Man1x it would be better as 3rd single or even second. And I disagree with you, people in general love this song, my friends , who don't like Eminem in general love it, maybe because they love rock and the song have the Aerosmith sample on It.

Great song, It's on my top 3.
