Lose Yourself

Would you concider Lose Yourself as being the best hip hop song ever made? I mean it did win The Academy Award for The Best Original Song of the year after all,as well as being the first rap song to do so.

As far as rap-songs in the 'Pop' sphere goes: yes. It has everything: a catchy hook, great verses, emotion, depth, it can come on in a club or at a party and everyone screams it, you can bump it in your car.

But it's not the best hip-hop song ever created.

No, I think most people will agree Stan is a much better song, and that's not taking into account every other rapper.
Having said that, Lose Yourself is a phenomenal song and deserves every bit of recognition that it gets.

And, what Hawk said "As far as rap-songs in the 'Pop' sphere...". What makes Lose Yourself "pop sphere of rap"? That song is rap. Great raping and delivery, complex rhyming... it just shows the genius that Eminem is, making a great rap song that everybody can like.

There can't be a best rap song because there are too many layers and aspects that Hip-Hop songs can cover, and it just can't be done in one single song. However, as far as a Hip-Hop song being big, successful, well-known and actually of a high quality, then yes, I do think that Lose Yourself is the greatest Hip-Hop song ever. Number 2 would be Changes by 2Pac.

It's up there with the greatest rap songs but it's not the best one.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

I thought it was clear what I meant. As far as rap songs which exist in the sphere of pop/chart music, Lose Yourself is stellar.

Having said that I will have to change my initial view. I think Stan is a much better song, and is certainly a worthy contender for the best rap song ever made. It's in my top 5 list of Eminem songs for sure.

EDIT: I don't recall any raping at all in lose yourself, are you mixing it up with Stay Wide Awake?
