Yellow Brick Road

Postby mcZu » Jun 28th, '10, 00:19

The flow Eminem used on the second verse of Yellow Brick Road must be one of his best flows. Rhythm wise Eminem displayed why he is one of the best emcees out there, putting words together that flow so smooth and rhythmic while conveying a message isn't something that a lot of emcees can do. One of my favourite Eminem verses.

Eminem - Yellow Brick Road

Lyrics:

I'd roam the streets so much they call me a drifter
Sometimes I stick up a thumb just to hitch hike
Just to get picked up to get me a lift to 8 mile and Van Dyke
And steal a god damn bike from somebody's backyard
And drop it off at the park that was the halfway mark
To meet Kim had to walk back to her mamma's on chalmers after dark
To sneak me in the house when I'm kicked out my mom's
Thats about the time I first met Proof with Goofy Gary on the steps at Osborne handin' out some flyers
He was doin some talent shows at Centerline High,
I told him to stop by and check us out sometime
He looked at me like I'm out my mind,
Shook his head like white boys dont know how to rhyme
I spit out a line and rhymed birthday with first place
And we both had the same rhymes that sound alike
We was on the same shit that Big Daddy Kane shit where compound syllables sound combined
From that day we was down to ride somehow we knew we'd meet again somewhere down the line

The whole song is a display of pure talent and skills. This song was always, and still is, what I use to back up my arguments/statements in an Eminem discussion.
"Truth is limitless in its range; if you drop a 'T' and look at it in reverse, it could hurt."

When I first bought Encore in 2004 this was my favorite song on the album. It was the first Eminem song I ever liked lol

I honestly never liked this song, I'm not sure why, I think it is because it is very boring to me, and the beat is boring to imo.

Also not a huge fan of this one. It's not bad, but nothing that peaks my interest either.

Horrible song. I remember listening to Encore and I heard Evil Deeds and Never Enough and I was like..."God, those two sucked, but he wasn't really trying to be serious. Maybe the album gets better." Then Yellow Brick Road came on, and I went "oh fuck...he's really lost it...fuck..." :(

So why in the world do I feel so alone
Nobody but me, I'm on my own
Is there anyone out there
Who feels the way I feel
That there is then let me in and let me know I'm not the only one.
