Swifty had sorta lost a step from Devil's Night but still spanks a good amount of his verses like on "Git Up". Bizarre's Bizarre. Mr. Porter lost some of his fire but had some really nice-sounding beats ("Barbershop" from the bonus disc is one of my favorite Mr. Porter beats). Eminem was really bad on the majority of the album....the only songs I can think of that he wasn't bad on are "6 In The Morning", "How Come", "American Psycho II" and "Get My Gun".
It had a strange feeling to it. In a way it had a darker tone to it than Devil's Night did, but at the same time it had that retarded Encore-ish goofyness on it. Plus it had a solo Bizarre song, which doesn't help any album that wants to be taken seriously.
It's certainly way better than Encore to me, but it's mainly because of Proof, Kuniva, Swifty, and on occasion Mr. Porter. They don't sound like they're just waking up. And it has its moments, like "6 In The Morning", "How Come", "D-12 World" where Kuniva and Swift are pretty damn awesome, "Good Die Young", and "American Psycho II". The rest are all not great. Kuniva and Proof are totally on point for the entire album though, regardless of the quality of the rest of the song that they're on. They're the only parts of "40 Oz" that are listenable.
Probably my third least favorite project Eminem's been involved in, first and second being Encore and Infinite respectively.
Nice mini-review.
I prefer D12 World over Infinite, Encore, Re-Up and Recovery myself, mostly due to the chemistry shown on the album. It all flows together incredibly smooth. Just a shame Em's verse weren't as good as his Hooks
