people ignorant of the genre not knowing something is a classic doesn't make it not a classic

Funcrusher Plus is 100% a classic for it's gargantuan influence as it basically created a sub genre of rap but most fans won't have heard of it.

ya quality isn't the only factor but I do think it's a huge factor and that quality alone can pretty much make something a classic

SSLP is such a swept under the carpet album here, especially for an Eminem forum. Some albums gain critical acclaim and are labelled 'classics' by the majority, but this truly was a game changing project.

Wasn't dusty or edgy enough like the other one.

To me to have those "set in stone, undisputable classic" than it should be great (goes without saying), aged well (there's a difference between againg badly because it feels obsolete and useless now and being antique because they don't rly make hip hop like it anymore i.e. Beastie Boys), and influence. But if I like an little known gem a lot and find it with very few flaws than it should be considered one.
