Why is it that every thread where Tech is even mentioned there has to be some argument going on between Elision and half the forum?

Actually I can (and do) deny that. And the Royce comparison is irrelevant given Royce's career when held up next to Em's. However, in doing the same between Kendrick/Tech, you find that Tech has been in the game 4x longer, his discography is more than 5x larger (unless Kendrick's got an insane amount of rare/unlisted feature verses or whatever), and most importantly his influence on hiphop and the artists within it over the last decade or so is only rivaled by people like Em given that he single-handedly paved the way for independent rappers (who work hard enough) to be able to achieve real global success. And without having to kiss the ass of the industry and those who run it. So I don't think most people understand how important this song getting radio success has. And I don't think much of it has to do with Kendrick, given that people have known of Tech N9ne for much longer. Which isn't to say that I don't think he did well on the song! it's one of my favorite Kendrick verses ever, but if what you're saying is that Kendrick put Tech on his back and carried him to success with this song, then why hasn't the same happened with I Love Music? I mean keep in mind neither track is found on any of Kendrick's albums.

I was joking with that pic lol :p

btw... YouTube viewership now sits alongside digital downloads, physical sales, and streaming, among other metrics, to determine the position of a song in the billboard Charts. it means that having a big or hot artist featured on your song (even a bad one)is a nice way to have more radio spins and more views on youtube/spotify.

I don't think bigray was shitting on tech n9ne, he was just pointing out that kendrick has a lot of fans in the rap community and it's probably the reason why the song received a lot of attention from these urban radio stations... it is how it works from a business perspective & it has nothing to do with the quality of the song.

As for "I love Music", it didn't blow up because both of them were indie artists at the time. And tbh, Kendrick doesn't even care about how that song became big... he seems to love tech n9ne & he's probably happy for him :y:

The song wouldn't have gotten as big as it is right now without Kendrick and if you deny it you're delusional. The same could be said with Control back then

Oh and I'm not hating on Tech's verse because it's dope too, just saying that Kendrick is slowly becoming a household name right now.

To be fair the OP says Tech N9ne's first successful song on urban radios, not first song that has sold well

This guy knows :smoking:

But yeah, no denying that Kendrick helped this song a TON.

For comparison, imagine a underground artist gettin Em on a song back in the day (or now even)

LEAVE ME ALONE...was according to KC the first successful radio hit, not Fragile folks, lets get it right.
I personally love everything hes done since his Angel or demon album. As far as the old stuff he wasn't all there yet, a wild one with bunches of Jabber.
As for the mention of Kendrick, he has a ghost writer and I don't believe he write his own stuff, bish  ....

Lmao.

1) KC wasn't that successful, fragile is clearly becoming bigger
2) kendrick doesn't have ghost writers. just like everybody, he has improved a lot but kendrick has been using the same writing style since hes 16.

he also received a lot of writing credits for writing verses/melodies/songs for other west coast rappers (Drug Test by Game for example)
