I am gonna keep the discussion going as i dont have a classic album to post! The reason for that is that i belong in the first category that Aone mentioned. I am 19 yo but from a foreign country and i am still discovering hip hop (imagine that 1 month ago i listened to outkast for the first time and today i was bumping MBDTF for the first time too).
So i wanted to ask why does the 2nd category exist? I mean why are the members stuck on the same albums?

I loved outkast (and to state an unpopular opinion i liked ATLiens more than Aquemini) i still have to listen to Speakerboxxx/The Love Below though. I will check the album out thanks.

Btw I'd like to thank the forum for broadening my hip-hop knowledge :)

It's because there aren't enough members that have heard any albums outside of those so discussion would be pointless. I bet only like 5 of us could discuss the albums in op

I don't think "pretty good 90's album" qualifies something as being a classic

but it didn't stand the test of time. it has no memorable sound because it can't decide between mafiaso rap and shitty jiggy production and has the most forgettable subject matter ever. It has no instantly recognizable hit, I doubt most hip-hop listeners could name Lil Kim's debut album let alone name a song off of it. She would be no one if not for her association with Biggie. Yeah it was good for a woman but not really ground breaking since Queen Latifah and MC Lyte already did the hard work. Hell I think Missy Elliott's album a year later has a better argument for being a classic than hers.

An albumi believe to easily be a classic that was made by an understated legend is Mama Said Knock You Out by LL. album is one of my favorite of all time and is just straight up dope shit. Has classic tracks like To Da Break Of Dawn, Mama Said Knock You Put, Boomin System, Eat Em Up L Chill. Completely slept on album.
