15 Most Anticipated Remaining Albums of 2014 (MaskedGorilla)

It's crazy how the best is yet to come

15. Chance The Rapper x Childish Gambino

14. A$AP Mob

13. Big K.R.I.T.

12. Jay Rock

11. Yung Lean

10. Denzel Curry

Miami, Florida rapper Denzel Curry grabbed fans attention with the music video for his song “Threatz” featuring Yung Simmie and Robb Bank$. After releasing his retail album Nostalgic 64 last summer, the 18 year old rapper spent the rest of 2013 on the road. With another tour ahead of him this fall, the rapper will be releasing his 32 Zel project before year's end.

9. Travi$ Scott

In 2013 Travi$ Scott came out of nowhere, to sign to T.I’s Grand Hustle label as a rapper, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label as a producer, and appear on projects such as: Cruel Summer, Magna Carta… Holy Grail, and Yeezus among others. Needless to say, after working so closely together, Scott’s debut project Owl Pharaoh was heavily influenced by Kanye. Altough he has accomplished a considerable ammount in a short period of time, he still has a lot to prove. This past May he released “Don't Play” featuring Big Sean and The 1975, the first single from his forthcoming album Rodeo. The project is a big step for Travi$ Scott, as it will hopefully allow the rapper/ producer to take on a sound of his own.

8. Logic

From 2010 – 2013, Maryland rapper Logic released 4 free mixtapes for his fans, rallying against the music industry and the idea of selling music. After multiple tours and building a sizable fanbase, Logic signed with Def Jam Records and began working on his official debut album under direction from No I.D. The project is slated to be released this year.

7. Action Bronson

Queens, New York rapper Action Bronson has released nearly a dozen free mixtapes and retail projects over the course of his career. Signed to Atlantic Records/ Vice Records since 2012, we’ve been patiently waiting for Bronson’s official debut album and what the concentrated effort could yield. With the name Mr Wonderful already confirmed and the first single hitting the radio airwaves, it’s looking like 2014 may finally be the year Bam Bam releases his album.

6. Earl Sweatshirt

After returning from school in Samoa, with his Odd Future crew rising to international stardom during the time he was gone, Earl Sweatshirt’s debut album was one of the most anticipated releases in years. The project, Doris, didn’t necessarily live up to the hype, as even Earl later commented that he wasn’t happy with his “monotone flow.” With the rapper now claiming the flow is gone, Earl has already been performing new music in anticipation of his forthcoming release.

5. A$AP Rocky

Earlier this year at the Coachella Music Festival A$AP Rocky surprised the crowd during A$AP Ferg’s set, performing a brand new single of his. The performance came with news that Rocky would release his sophomore album shortly after A$AP Mob released their collab album. While we’re still waiting on that collab album LORD, we’re really anticipating what Rocky has in store for the follow up to his 2013 debut album Long.Live.A$AP.

4. Joey Bada$$

In June of 2012 Joey Bada$$ released his debut solo mixtape 1999. That mixtape and the lead single “Waves”, catapulted the Brooklyn, New York rapper into the limelight. While touring and developing his Pro Era crew over the following years, Joey has also been working on his debut solo album. Although still without a release date, Joey’s B4.Da.$$ will almost certainly be released this year. 1999 is considered a classic by many, so it will be interesting to see what direction Joey takes with B4.Da.$$ and if it can top his previous effort.

3. Frank Ocean

It’s almost hard to remember, but there was a time when Frank Ocean wasn’t an international superstar. His free project Nostalgia, Ultra in 2011 made him every fan’s favorite secret. His debut album Channel Orange, collaborations with Kanye West and Jay Z on “No Church In The Wild” and his multiple Grammy wins in 2012 made him a household name. Just like the rest of the artists near the top of this list with stellar debut efforts, it will be a challenge for Ocean’s sophomore album to match the success. Having recently stated that his new project is nearly finished, it looks like we won’t have to wait long to find out.

2. Kanye West

Last year Kanye West absolutely took over the music scene with the announcement of his Yeezus album, the promotion, the singles, the music videos, the release, and everything else surrounding it. The record pushed musical and cultural boundaries, setting the tone, and will undoubtedly continue to influence for years to come. So, where does Kanye go from here? Apparently a more mellow pop album, as he has described his followup effort to be in recent interviews. Small snippets of new music from Kanye are already starting to pop up here and there, but knowing Kanye, when it’s time for his project to be released, we’ll know.

1. Kendrick Lamar

Forget the categories of new school hip hop, or just hip hop as a whole, or even pop music, Kendrick Lamar’s sophomore effort isn’t the most anticipated album of any of those genres. Kendrick Lamar’s forthcoming follow up to his critically acclaimed debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city is the most anticipated release in music period. If anyone can live up to the pressure, it’s Kendrick.

Denzel Curry is severely underrated. Nostalgic 64 was one of my favorite albums of last year
That gum you like is going to come back in style.
