Getting a studio! [Help]

Postby SajN » Feb 13th, '08, 17:57

I don't have a "homestudio" yet. My friend has, so whenever I want to record I have to do it in his house.
Anyway, I got plans to buy it, but I need to know these things:

Is this the stuff that I need only, or is it one of these I don't need to buy or have to buy more of etc. :

A good music-PC
mixer
one microphone
soundcard
speakers
microphone filter
recording software
one headset.

And what can the price kinda be (in dollars, if you could convert the price to Norwegian money, it's better)? For each of those?

Is it best to buy the best of all of these stuffs to get better recordings, or is it just waste of money, then what shouldn't I buy the "best" of, and just something in middle price?

Appreciate it if you help me out :y:

all that stuff you said....Plus cool edit pro, and sumthing to master your Vocals..Like T-Rax

I bought mine all for around 300 dollars.. thats excluding the computer with soundcard...But the studio equipment itself can be cheap..U dont need an amazing mic u just need to know how to mix...
i have a 60 dollar mic, that will do for anyone..as i said "its all in the mix"

Ok, what is Cool Edit Pro, I mean what does it do?
And what do you mean by "master your vocals" ? (I still don't speak proper english lol)

Ok, I get it. So actually in dollars it's cheap (for me), because in Norway it will be something like 15000 KR, and 1 dollar is 7-8 KR. And 300 dollars is like 2000 KR (which is not that much).
Damn, Norway is expensive...

Aight man, thanks for answering.

One more thing: How do you record, I mean like, do you have a little room that is soundproof, or whatever it's called in english? or do you record it in you bedroom, even if your family is in the house..
I have a small house with small rooms. So I wonder how I can record.. only way is to wait till I am alone and record, so noices from others can't disturb..

cubase is complex to start with...Just do it in a room...doesnt matter, Use cool edit pro its where yu record and mix...And to master vocals some ppl like cleaning up there sound after..some just do the normal mixing...But anyways..its fairly simple... But it will take u a while to get it down pat

So all I actually need is a good mic as Bar said, and Cool edit pro, and a software that can master vocals?

But if I want better recordings I have to get all those things what?
