*New* My Day

Postby Ethos » Sep 9th, '07, 19:09

Just thought I'd present a new beat I did last night. :D As always the drums are the best part. But this time I tried to do something different in my strings set up. I tried making things seem a little less repetitive. kinda didn't go well. but tell me what ya'll think

Drums were good, the multiple crashes didn't fit though. The melody is dope as hell. the chorus was even better. Bass complimented everything in it pretty well.. Probably my favorite I've heard from you. Good work :y:

hmm... well first I think the bass is a bit too loud... not 100% sure, cause it might depend on what type of speakers/sub you have, but to me it was a bit too loud, nothing major tho lol

and about the drums, yeah I get what ice said... cause I think the crashes are too loud, they're louder than the snare and the kick, so they're kinda in your face... and it gets repetitive... try to mix your drums differently, to have a harder sounding snare and kick, and have the crashes more in the background... and maybe for a few bars here in there, if you want to make them more "in your face", you can make them louder, as you wish

and about the strings, I see what you tried to do, but I think it wasn't the best sound choice... cause the strings don't really sound realistic that way... so maybe you could have used a different sound, don'T really know what tho lol :sweating:

don't get me wrong tho, maybe from a listener point of view I didn't like it as much as your last one (for example) but from a beatmaker point of view, I appreciate it more, cause I see that you tried new things and to me it's more important than "copying" what you did in previous beats :y: and if you keep on experimenting like in this beat, in the long run it'll pay off :8)

it was alrite. wasnt the best ive heard from you but still good. like mart said, u need to mix your drums cuz of the crashes in it were loud. the overeall drums were good tho. the melody was nice. i suggest using a diff. string though. nice job tho. :y:

Thanks DC & Mart. I'll turn the crash down when I do the final version for the CD track.

@ DC: I haven't gotten any new soundfonts (meaning no good sounding strings) because I'm not allowed to download anymore. (damn parents) But I'll see what I can do.
