Don't know much about sampling, but it sounded pretty decent. One thing I would've done differently, is instead of having that hit at the start of every bar I would've moved it so its every other bar.

The scratch in the beginning was kinda weak, try to get some more "authentic" sounding ones. (I got a shit load if you need any)

And I would've turned the hat down cuz at every 2 steps it get kind of annoying at that volume.

The sampling sounded good, to me at least. Keep it up :y:

Oh thanks. I could use some scratch samples. all of mine are either stupid or they are just breaks. so yeah if ya can help. and the hat was hard to do cuz i had to match the drums of the sample. there were no parts in the actual song that didn't have no drums. so yeah.

it's not bad but to be honest, I thought it sounded too much like the original... one of the main objective when you use a sample is to make it sound completely different, sometimes to the point where you can't even recognize the original song... but yeah, the song you picked might not be the best song to sample tho, cause when there are drums in the sample, sometimes you're more limited... and try to sample other type of music, cause the track you sampled is pretty much a hip hop beat (old school, but still hip hop lol) so again you're limited...

keep it up man :y:

ah i see what you mean. i'll try to do better next time I want to sample. oh btw. do you have any idea what genres of music are easy to sample? i don't really know many genres of music other than the major ones.

nah, any type of music can be sampled... choose anything that inspires you... but if you're planning to make a hip hop beat, using a sample with a hip hop drum pattern in it isn't the best choice, unless you want to add a completely different drum pattern over it, otherwise it'll sound too similar...

if you just want to practise, pick any songs that is on your computer, cut the part that is the easiest to sample and just mess around with it

i dont like sampling because most of the time when you chop it up so it sounds different like mart said, it would sound really choppy

nah. you gotta find the right time sequencing and mix them together to flow. you can't just take samples and loop them in any spot. you gotta make sure it flows right.

@ mart. okay i'll try it. thanks a lot.
