A little insight please

I am kinda looking to get a home studio set up heres what I have so far.

A laptop with software on it.. I have The Beatthang Virtual, its pretty tight but its in early stages. I have fucked with fruity loops but I gave up on it.. I have never tried reason but heard that it is good..

What do most professional producers use.. Dr.Dre.. Timbaland.. etc..

I also have a keyboard that is hooked up to my laptop in able to trigger sounds through beatthang or fruity loops.. but I havent quite gotten it to play its own stock sounds through the software..

So judging off what I have what am I Missing..

A mic..
a pop filter..
A MPC
A better sound card..
what else?
