Question?

Postby ChronicJon » Jun 1st, '10, 09:33

How much exactly is a home setup? Considering the most pricy thing is laptop and I have that (after working a shitload only for a 400 dollar object!!!). My guess as a newbie is that all I need is a mic with the cable for the laptop, noise-cancelling headphones (Beats By Dre :8)) a mixing program like protools, edit pro etc. and the beats scattered around shadowville, soundclick,..... trshady :giggle:

Am I wrong? Because I'll be hustling (not literally lol) this whole summer for that shit and that shit only because my broke-ass family can't afford crap (barely food, and water, and electricity). And I think I can start recording but for me only until I've reached a point where I think my music is displayable to the public (TR and my neighborhood).

So....what do I need to have a full amateur home studio set-up?

Depends on how good of equipment you want. You could get a pretty good USB mic for $100-$150. Headphones for $75, or get better more expensive ones if you wanted. Then buy whatever program to start. OR if you wanted to start with a more simpler program then Protools, you could probably just find a free download for the program somewhere on the internet! So then you'd only be looking at $200-$300. :y:
