I think it may be due to the fact that you may tend to scrutinize less when stoned.

Take the slight hint of a negative mindset away from something you alteady appreciate on a technical level, and you're left with something amazing. Smoking can make a bad album tolerable, a tolerable album great, and a great album godly.
