Yeah well I mean... I have zero money right now and plan to go in Jan lmao. I lost my job in July and so am looking for a new one right now... I just tend to think I can do anything or just have an idea and think it'll happen in no time haha, but, yeah I am going there, to be with my girl there.

So I mean right now the plan is just to get a job and get a few grand together over these next few months, just to get there and stay there for a month or two and then whilst out there - I'll try and get a working visa and a job out there, doing web design / SEO / something in that arena.

I love how everyone wants to move from there epic places to live here...
I spent most of my time wishing that I was living in Cali' or Florida...

Now I really appreciate the gem that my country is.

I honestly wouldn't want to live anywhere else. New South Wales is shit though, everything is so strict here. If marijuana is ever legalized (and here's hoping), NSW won't be at the forefront.

Edit- but we do have Nimbin: http://www.nimbinmardigrass.com/

Hi I'm from melbourne. I'm not a regular poster but I saw this in active topics. You definitely don't have to worry about gangs in Melbourne unless you are interested in being a drug dealer lol. I'm a 20 year old female and have no problem walking around the city and most suburbs at night. Some of he outer suburbs are a but dodgey but generally no one will bother you unless you start something. Do you know what suburb you want to live in?

Yeah but... where I live really is the most UN-epic place lmao. I know the grass may always look greener on the other side but in my case it 100% is haha.

My city is really small, grimy, smelly, dirty; a lot of drugs, petty violence (or what always feels like the threat of) and like, just, not many nice places to go, a tiny tiny city centre, most of the clops are shut or closing down there, there's just so little to do and it's so depressing and mean here.

I've had my share of struggles living here, though.
Even though everything is a lot calming here, the people are a lot more dumber.

I dunno, pick your poison; a dangerous area with an awesome music scene and atmosphere, or a quiet town/city full of lads with no danger.
:8)

The place you're describing sounds really boring and depressing, though.

You should definitely move to Melbourne.

Australians aren't dumber than the British, what are you talking about? Australia has great universities and our education system takes a steaming turd on the US. Our final year of highschool and the end of year tests is said to be the equivent difficulty of a US freshman year in college. COLLEGE. We're talking all Australian high school students.

Granted, in Brisbane maybe a lot drop out to become surfers or life guards or god knows what lol, but Melbourne has a fantastic university renown for its medical program, so don't assume all Austrslians are dumb.

To everyone outside Australia: We are not some digeridoo blowing nation full of Crocodile Dundees.

I never said Australians are dumb. XD

The quiet places like my hometown are infested with people with no ambition that just wanna work 9 to 5 jobs and get wasted on Friday night.
The same goes for the city, but in lesser numbers.
Most of the people aren't dumb, just simple-minded or peaceful and nice.
I've seen my fair share of feral cunts, though.

Now, because almost everyone in the quiet places are nice, calm and happy, there's hardly any trouble because everyone is like:
Image

It's pretty much the same everywhere else.
Brisbane is just as intelligent as Melbourne...
Ok, almost.
The colleges aren't really up to par with the states.
I did cosmology there for a while but I couldn't really do shit with my pieces of paper because nobody really knew how to make me go places with my obtained knowledge.

In society, you got the people that just wanna waste their lives, and you got people like you and me that wanna do something with our lives and we never give up trying.

Society has almost always been like this.

I'm well aware that there are some intelligent people in the suburbs, but most of them end up being cynical assholes due to their lack of money, lol.

We live in a great country and we are the same as Britain and America if you compare the way we live.

We express ourselves in different ways, but, at the end of the day, we are all the same overall.
We all have 2 eyes and such.

Slik is right though, everyone.
We aren't just a bunch of fucking farmers putting shrimps on barbeques; the cities are really urban and similar to New York and such.

Ok, maybe our cities aren't as hot as New York...
