I have plans to move over to Melbourne real soon also. I have a brother that lives over there, I visited last year and the year before that. Way better than the current shithole I'm at right now.

Brisbane fucking rules! I hooked up with a stripper in Brisbane after my flight was cancelled. I was comped a night in a hotel but decided to hit the town because it was Saturday night and the shuttle bus was picking me up from the hotel at like 4am for a 6am departure. It was already around midnight so there was no point in sleeping. I ended up having one of the best nights of my life.

Dude, Fortitude Valley is fucking sick at night.

There's like countless underground rap/rock clubs and shit there that are full of epic people.

You should come down more often.

I usually just chill out in the city each day because I live a few blocks from the city...
I really like Redcliffe as well; well, mainly because I was born and raised there. :P

There's hardly any gun violence or anything in Brisbane or Redcliffe; well, maybe a few gang problems, petty thieves and a lot of yobbos, but that's it.

I like Sydney and Melbourne, but they seem really dangerous at times.

But I'm sure that they are nice places once you get used to the shit.
The music scene is pretty huge in both places.

The most dangerous parts of the UK trumps Australia easily.King street and that whole area is where things get hectic, especially at night. Same with King's Cross in Sydney. Melbourne is a beautiful city though, much more culturally diverse than Sydney or Brisbane. But like mdemaz said Brisbane is much more laid back than Melbourne or Sydney.

Well I'm from a relatively dangerous city, pretty violent but if you live here for a while and just, 'become' the city, it's easy to stay out of it...

And apparently my city is one of the worst in Britain by statistics but I dunno if I believe that, as I think there's far worse, even that I've been to.

Only problem is I don't know anyone in Melbourne, don't wanna run in to gangs.

If you're gonna go out at night, bring at least one person.
That's all I can say.
It can be your mum or whatever.

That goes for pretty much any place on the globe.

Don't muck around on the streets and just go straight to your destination, really.
If you wanna avoid the drunken louts and such, you gotta avoid being vulnerable.

I wouldn't go out with less than three other guys tbh, you and your mum will get owned lmao. But yeah definitely if you're clubbing and what not, get to the club and don't mess around on the streets too much. I don't pretend to be tougher than I am in Sydney (assume the same goes in Melb) cos you will get smashed for looking at someone wrong. But that is mainly alcohol fueled egotistical violence, during the day you don't have much to worry about.

I never really had any trouble with 1-3 people.
I guess it depends.
I like to go out on weekdays instead of weekends...
If I'm at some random pub playing the pokies, everything is cool even if I'm by myself!

Ok, to fully answer EB's question, Melbourne is great, but you gotta be careful.
I've only been there for a few weeks, but It was really pleasant.

I usually just mind my own business because I'm really shy; therefore, I don't attract much attention.

I just sit in the corner talking to my friends about shit while drinking Coke Zero, rofl.
