You may now buy up to an ounce in either state and you may grow up to six(!!) plants in Colorado.

Federal law remains unchanged, though.

This isn't going to do much and just make for a bunch of confusion because of conflicting state and federal laws but it's a good step in the right direction and hopefully makes the federal government change their classification.

But the cops can't do shit about weed now. The Feds aren't going to care about the average consumer, much less one who grows his own plants and smokes his own weed. If anything they may target the retailers for distribution like they sometimes do in Cali.
It's a step in the right direction though like you say. I would love to see Cannabis' classification changed, it's ridiculous that it is a schedule 1 drug (no accepted medical use) when more and more states are using it for medical purposes.

But why bother buying taxed marijuana? This is just opening more doors for dealers to come out. The sales tax for marijuana is going to be 25% in Washington.

Why spend around 20 bucks (just a guess, I have no clue how much weed will cost) on weed from a legal vendor when you can buy the exact same product illegally for ten dollars less.

Not to mention the rules are still pretty strict on marijuana.

a while after legalization, companies that grow/sell it would emerge just like how alcohol did. how many people buy beer from a street dealer rather than a package store? sure, it wont be immediately but it would eventually be a million times easier to buy it for more at stores.

Blu, think of the convenience of having a store with 100+ strains of different strength and quality... Or a store that sells seeds of different plants that help you and offer advice on growing and cultivating. As opposed to "pot luck" with some shoddy dealer, who doesn't want you growing any because it will eat away at his profits. The sales tax may well be 25% but who is to say the prices will be the same as they are on the street now? With mass production, it's possible it will cut prices, not raise them.
