Until I looked up the lyrics, I tought he was saying "Hit me square in the chest, I wasn't wearing a vest" instead of "Hit the square in the chest, he wasn't wearing a vest".

'Me' wouldnt make sense as that line implies the person who got hit was killed so if it was 'Em' who got killed why would the story carry on?

Maybe he survived the gunshot? I never really thought it through to be honest. :sweating:
