Yeah, with a cellphone it's going to be very hard to get quality. If you could go to a local music store and get a 25$-50$ mic that would help your quality a lot. If you ever record something pm it to me and I'll mix it the best I can and then tell you what I did cause I don't know if the way I mix with a mic would be the same for you.

Well first of all, tortured doesn't rhyme with moocher. The o sounds aren't the same. Second, you have a good grasp of multis and you know what good rap is you just need to be more creative with your concepts and the things you say. Just think to yourself, would I think this was dope if I heard x rapper say it?

This is an excellent tutoriol from a credible source that I approve of, so if you want to try and mix, use this. However, mixing isn't the same for everyone's vocals. You have to play around with it and find what suits you best.

1. Mixing
2. Environment to record in
3. Mic

As long as you know how to properly mix and you record in an area with as little as possible reverb you'll be fine. I've had the same USB mic for 2 years now my quality has improved from simply horrible to pretty decent because I fixed the first two things on that list. PM me once you get your shit in gear and I'll show you a 2 minute way to get acceptable quality out of mixing.

Not completely true. It wholly depends on what you consider "decent" quality. On this website there aren't many members with decent quality, so it's hard to judge, but I'll say Class has "decent" quality (as well as Chambers). Not many others would be considered decent to me. I suppose Steve Spag has the closest thing to good quality.

It should be:

1: Mixing
2: Mastering (Eq's and processing)
3: Microphone
4: Processor/mixer/preamp
5: Enviorment

It's easier to ground your equipment and soundproof a small section of an echo/reverb infested room than it is to pass good mixing for quality recordings.

Just sayin, I have a mic that cost me 60 dollars, and a mixer that cost me 60 dollars.
If you have a desktop computer then your ready to go. Learn to mix..Thats the challenge when you learn, it becomes so easy you'll do it with your eyes closed

You need a condensor mic , not USB. and an external mixer Behringer is a reliable brand.
Mic plugs into mixerm, Mixer Plugs directly into the computer where the usb mic would have gone.

Presto a couple youtube videos later :D
Click my link to see my quality..,..Very cheap equipment. (not the myspace, thats old)

I meant as in I have a one-line punchline that I can't really extend, how can I come up with an appropriate set up line ?

As in :

_________________ (Dunno what to write here)
I rape AIDS and destroy it's immune system

Well, if you can get good then you can find a way to tie in the set up line to the punchline. Like...

I'm not crippled by diesease I fight back while you sicken
I'll rape AIDS and destroy it's immune system
(Bad example)

But if you can't then just throw in random multis so that the multi of the punchline will hit harder like

I got that true spittin, leave ya crew missin
Rape AIDS and destroy it's immune system
(Also a bad example)

Pretty cool of you to do this :y:

Just answer these questions, please.

1. Have you ever had that feeling "Ok, I've written on every topic that I know of. There is nothing left for me to write about?" How do you get out of that feeling? I mean... How many topics can rap possibly have to write about? Where you're from, love, bragging, etc. Please help me out with this, I'm stuck.

2. How to make the chorus sound more like singing? You know how (for example) in The Real Slim Shady, or Without Me, Em goes from rapping, to a kind of more singing-melody type chorus. How should I come up with shit like that?

Overall, I just can't think of anything. I sit sometimes with a pen in my hand, nothing coming out. :(
"This dude doing this interview wants me to spin a few,
Lyrics while I tie my tennis shoes in the nude
A romantic interlude in a livin’ room,
In an inner tube with a dude with a bit of lube
Fuck that I’m sniffin’ glue, sippin' gin & juice,
And a little bit of paint thinner with my dinner too,
You better pay me for my bars like your rent is due,
Now hurry up and finish dude before I finish you."

This is exactly what I felt a couple monthes ago. This is when you have to move away from talking about your life and start trying to be creative. Do some story telling from a different perspective other than your own. Rap has an infinite amount of topics. This might help you too

Maybe wrote:Hmmm, I can see the negative effect happiness might have on music. Well, do what I do... I imagine the worst possible life from the perspective of someone else. I usually write about what I see around me, and since I've lived in the ghettos of New Jersey it's pretty easy haha.

Well that doesn't really have anything to do with writing. You just rap it with more of a melody than you do the verses and then the mixer makes it sounds more like singing

If that happens just get up and go do something else. Inspiration comes in the strangest places and if you try and force something you'll just end up hating it.
