I still find that song BORING as fuck. Isnt the Tempo slower than Mockingbird? Add the accent and the self-pity and it quickly loses its lustre

Self-pity? I'd argue one of it's main strengths is that it's delivery and lyrics add emotion to the storytelling without a hint of self-pity. It's lack of self pity is one of the main things that attracts me to the song.

It does sound like he wrote it and then recorded it 3 months later. The lyrics themselves are the ones with self pity. In fact, his delivery almost feels detached from the song as a third person narrative.

I really like the intro and the beat on CWYWF. The first verse was pretty solid, but I felt the second verse let the song down.

Though I didn't think the entire second verse was bad. I always thought it was cool to hear that sense of anger towards the fan, like "You didn't pray for me when I was local." It kind of went downhill from there though.
