Beat: 25 To Life - because looking at SGH's beat, it pales in comparison to the other far more superior, similar sounding beats of TES. 25 To Life sounds fresh from an Eminem perspective.

This all comes down to personal preference and doesn't usually change what I think of a song, but really? The 25 To Life beat is incredibly poppy and almost technoish, Say Goodbye To Hollywood at least had an interesting beat.

Lyrics: 25 To Life - Not because of multies, or whatever you wanna argue with me about, but because the whole song, the ENTIRE song, has a double meaning. "jealous when I spend time with the girls" could be referring to other women when talking about the girl 25 To Life is about, or about his daughters, since it's about Hip-Hop. That's just one example. SGH has some really lazy lines like the one I mentioned earlier in the thread, "forced us to live alienated" - the first half of it drags and flows awfully.

Okay now I find this ridiculous. Multies are incredibly overrated so I don't care much about that but most of the writing on 25 To Life is very lazy ("planet, ran it" comes to mined, the step part), while on Say Goodbye To hollywood his technical skill is there while not deteriorating the actual lyrics.

Aside from the incredibly unoriginal content (it's one of the most overused concepts in hip hop), he doesn't even pull it off. You can't give away the premise halfway through the damn song. Did you not know what he was talking about after the not loyal part..?

And no, the song doesn't have a double meaning, it's pretty obvious what he meant. He's rapping about hip hop, the jealous when I spend time with the girls part means that fans or whatever don't want him doing anything else other than releasing music but that part is pretty redundant.

Voice - Tie. Both are equally passionate.

Hook - 25 To Life. You wanna talk unoriginal and generic? Look at SGH's hook.

I just don't see how these songs are even comparable. I mean come on, have you listened to Say Goodbye To Hollywood? It's a look into Eminem's personal life and the problems caused by fame, 25 To Life is just his attempt at an overused concept

Nah I never said the rhyming was lazy. Just the flow on some lines. Rhymes on both songs are impressive but the fact that 25 To Life all has a double meaning puts it higher on my list in terms of what's more impressive to me.

You can prefer the whole package of a song but know that another song is technically better.

It reminds me of how, post-comeback, sometimes he drops the beat at the end of a verse to prevent him from running really far off of it, or in other cases he speeds up really fast at the end. In SGH's case, it's the same without the beat completely dropping. It just sounds really awkward and doesn't flow as good as the rest of the song imo.

It's also the last line of the song, so I wish he could have reworded it a little better and still ended it with "forced us to live alienated", but the first half seems to drag on.
