Beat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsLWz6Qg ... re=related

*Thinking of doing a "mixpad". Like a mixtape but of written pieces. So this is probably the first song for it. This song NEEDS the beat to be read to. Enjoy!

Eedee; DGAF

[Chorus] (:22)

Look at where we are now, just think that we did this,
All that shit we conquered - can bet it was no picnic.
At first we felt all boxed up, life had us locked up,
Felt like sock puppets but now we're the ones that talk stuff.
We were down but got up, heard the screams but through the noise,
The choices moved us up and damn now we've gotten to this point.
Who's the voice that whispered to us that we gotta lose the void?
The choices moved us up and damn now we've gotten to this point.

[Verse 1] (:44)

I hear no church bells ringing, my life is no piece of art,
I have the wings of angel fueled by the pumpings of a demon heart.
Gunshots echo but the fun's not mellow,
Because my upchuck bellow fits with someone's cello.
I'm sick of always last place, can't keep the fast pace,
A pussyhead like a cat's face, these failures leave a bad taste.
That's when I turned to the rap game, my confidence came back,
And now these rhymes are my sidearm, fight on. All of it; aim that.
The key to this victory, what's needed is pissing me-
Off so that my fire burns higher than three hundred and fifty.
Degrees. Believe. Cuz when I say it, I mean it,
Air is our currency but I don't pay up to breathe it.
Why? Cuz it's a part of the job description...
Overcoming my past strife? Give me a harder mission.
But I'd be lying if I said never grabbed knives,
Not to cut but to slice the bonds that held me so I grab life!
Now I'm fighting on like an army, protecting my pride and heart,
How inviting that it's starting to feel as if my crying stopped.
I lift up my chin - and now I start to smile,
Sit up begin to get up and sprint the farthest mile
So it just goes to show that you can always beat
The shit you face and get to that door like where the hallways meet.
And part-way greet the crap, *smack*, that's when you anoint,
The victor of this bullshit, now watch us get to this point!

[Chorus] (2:03)

[Verse 2] (2:26)

I relish in the difficult and walking paths that quitter's won't
People see a problem pass and often act like it's no hope
But listen folks, the problem's not the path, it's all an obstacle
You're falling in a trap that makes it hard to spot the part in you
That disregards impossible and sparks the heart you need to win
So with that known you've gotta start to harness speed within
Even then it's not a given you'll make it, but if you dwell on it
And settle with second fiddle you'll feel worse than the failure did
Think about the legends and the road they took to make it big
Never stayed complacent, shit they know to push their brains a bit
Into a state of patient bliss where anything can be accomplished
If you see the promise land you're lucky, I'm just being honest
Half of us completely stop and never go that road again
Never focused in the moment so they lose the hope within
Come up with some bogus shit to bail them out, they're feeling cool
Thinking that the pinnacle is something that could limit you
If they knew that at the top's another mountain to be climbed
They could hone their skill and sharpen all the power in their mind
After all that's all it is, if you can push aside the thought
Of failure then deny it all and take a look inside your heart
You can get behind the wall that stopped your journey in it's tracks
Quitting now is not an option, all the work we did for rap
Will not go down as quick as that as long as I'm alive to write
The fire I ignite inside will not be quiet while I rhyme
It's time to fly above the beat and watch myself begin to work
Composing endless stints of perfect verses when I finish words
And listen back in utter shock at how I've changed and where I'll go
There was a time of barren hopelessnes but hey, I dared to grow

Well done. This is nicely written to the beat, although I didn't like the beat, I read both of your verses with the beat as per the instructions.

The hook aka Intro by Ed was really nice, had my interest up right from the start. I won't exaggerate, but it was really the most well written hooks, that I have seen in a long time.

As far as writing to the beat is concerned, I don't know about Ed, but DGAF seemed to have a better, well structured verse with appropriate amount of syllables in each bar. I know Ed raps and know better how to write to a beat, but I couldn't imagine a flow so that I can orient your bars to the beat and give it proper justice. I didn't know whether you were gonna rap to it in a fast face or in a medium laid back way because the hook definitely calls for a faster flow; but what about the verse?

Hadn't it been written to the beat, I ain't feelin the multis, bot of you. It was good, here and there, but still rapping over the beat covers the little gliches.

That's when I turned to the rap game, my confidence came back,

Nice Inverse.

With tons of pieces being dropped, people tend to forget. Post the link to this in others threads, or just PM maotherfuckers.

I feel you man. I try not to ask too much, but writers put in a lot of work for just one piece. I'm not even speaking on my behalf, there's lots of pieces out there that go unnoticed. But it's cool I guess, I'm trying to make the switch to audio soon anyways.
