Certain parts are very obvious. You don't need a lyric sheet/highlighter to be able to tell that Rabbit Run is average/lazy in parts. You just need an ear.

There's far too much cheating in the song where he re-uses words in rhyme schemes:

Ball of shit/...sick of staring at this wall and shit, sick of all this shit, can't call it shit

Until it filters up/I can feel it building up, blow this building up...filled it up.

Scribble it out/...I'm fizzling out, thought I figured it out/...scared to dribble it out.

Half past 3/half-assed piece

Finally see/blind to see

Feel my rush/feel my nuts

Hair sit up/yeah sit up

Jaws was coming/law was coming

Sometimes I don't always find a word to rhyme to express how I'm really feeling at that time, yeah sometimes sometimes sometimes

Misaligned multis:

stuck in a slump/fuck, I'm stumped

boiling point/oil in your joints

win this race/shit in your face

When it's the greatest rap lyricist ever writing stuff like that, it sticks out like a sore thumb. He was in a mindset where he cared more about the presentation of the lyrics (ie the boring beat-humping flow where he mirrors the building kick drums at the start like in When The Music Stops) rather than the lyrics themselves. Style over substance.

And I did enjoy Eminem's delivery on Rabbit Run, although his flow was pretty basic. I wouldn't turn the song off if it ever came on.

Lose Yourself is also little lazy written a few places. I'll show you some examples when I get home, but I am sure you can see them yourself.

Given the complexity of the rhyme schemes of the song as a whole, it was not 'lazy (lazily) written' at all, anywhere. That's kind of like saying the moon landing was lazily planned. I'm interested to see your alleged examples, though.

I`ll just say-internet rappers/writers/forum smartasses. They get off at multies and structure. You don`t need to have a song full of multies for it to be great. Rabbit Run is amazing, you can sense that the man rapping it has his back at the wall. The delivery, the beat the flow-everything is great. Songs like that make Eminem one of the greatest rappers ever. It`s a song you feel, you relate to. It`s a song you can touch.

For example:

"He opens his mouth, but the words won't come out
He's choking how, everybody's joking now
The clock's run out, time's up over, bloah!"

Come out - run out

"But hold your nose 'cause here goes the cold water
His hoes don't want him no more, he's cold product"

cold and cold

"Mom, I love you, but this trailer's got to go
I cannot grow old in Salem's lot
So here I go it's my shot.
Feet fail me not, this may be the only opportunity that I got"

He emphasizes "got" in the first line, which is why I am including it, and ending with the same word. That wasn't the bigger thing though. What I first wanted to say was that he was keeping the multies "trailer's got - Salem's lot - fail me not" and therefore it was a kinda bad ending to it by having just a monosyllabic rhyme at the end... but after I made the previous post I realised that "I got" is supposed to be with "my shot" (basic stuff, though). I didn't see it before because I always concentrated on the other multisyllabic rhyme I mentioned.

I've also been a little bugged when he says "make me king" in the second verse, for some reason.

With that said, I am sure you read my post where I say that this is my favourite Eminem song? If not, now you know.
I was just pointing out the same stuff Amadeo was pointing out in RR... which is also dope, btw.

And please don't doublepost. It's against the rules.

Amadeo wrote:Stan is a concept song. Rabbit Run is not. Not comparable.

Recycling words in rhyme schemes in Lose Yourself is not comparable to Rabbit Run...in LY it occurs much less frequently and the rhyme schemes are puzzlingly complex. In RR, he's mainly sticking to 3 syllable rhymes at the end of each bar.

Rabbit Run, he's playing a character. B Rabbit. So I think it's pretty obvious he'd structure his verse like that. It sounds like he's just battling and that's the sound Eminem was going for. It WAS for 8 Mile after all.

Ditto. I don't always agree with him (Bit too critical sometimes) but his breakdown of Eminem songs are unbiased and accurate.

He's a pretentious dick who thinks he is always right. He's like the Skip Bayless of TR.

And yes, Lose Yourself is definitely Eminem's best song. He should've thrown it on TES.

Your kind of approach is what results in people praising Mockingbird and When I'm Gone.

You should never decide whether something is "good" or not based on whether or not you like it. Enjoyment is entirely subjective. Lots of people enjoy Justin Bieber's music. That doesn't make him good.

You're perfectly free to listen to Rabbit Run and orgasm to it on a daily basis if you want. But, objectively speaking, it's pretty flawed work.

This ! I seriously think the song has a deep content and this is why Rabbit Run is one of my fav Eminem songs Image

So you can't post more than once in a row even if you're arguing with multiple people in a thread? What the fuck?

Dumbest thing I've ever heard/seen on ANY forum. And I've been on some fucking dumb forums.

You can quote them in one post. Doesn't take a lot of time.
A lot of forums have this rule, it's a general thing.

This rule won't disappear, and don't discuss it in this thread. I will delete your post if you (or anyone else) do.

Where do i discuss it?

Is there a multiple quote option (besides having to copy and paste everything)?

I can't guarantee anything, but I will take it up with TR himself (I haven't gotten in touch with him for a little while now, so it takes time... as usual).

When you make a post (full editor, not quick post) , scroll down and you will see posts. You can then click on the QUOTE button on the right side of the different posts, and then the quote will appear in your post. This way you can quote several members.

Just like I will do now by responding to SliK's post
