The Graphics of FPS's Have Improved A Lot Since 1992

Sit back and watch two decades of video game graphics flash before your eyes. YouTube user drloser333 has uploaded a video from French site NoFrag that unfurls the graphics of more than a dozen first-person shooters, from 1992's Wolfenstein 3 to 2011's Battlefield 3.

Did the FPS get better-looking? They have at least become way more realistic, But maybe you're more of a fan of older, more abstract styles?

Not just FPS but all games in general, they just keep looking better and better each year. It's completely nuts. I remember growing up rocking the Atari thinking "this is the shit, how can it get better?" Now it's 2013 and every game is comparable to a movie, the way they're presented. I can only imagine what it'll be like in another 20 years. I can envision a sphere (or room, like in the move "Gamer") you walk into and you're immersed in the action. There was a prototype you can find on YouTube where they demo Battlefield 3 with it; it's pretty basic but imagine what the technology will be like in a decade, or two.

Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it and I CAN'T WAIT!

It just became more obvious I used to game too much.

It's interesting to think about though. I can't wait to see how things are in say..5 or so years. Or how the PS4 will be even.

Unfortunately, the games themselves haven't gotten any better...still just shooting bad guys...yawn. Games in general are obviously looking better though, eager to see how the next-gen will look. With that said, graphics aren't everything and I hope developers start concentrating on making interesting characters and storylines. These guys can make a game that looks pretty but it's not engaging. I don't give a shit about these faceless characters.

@Derdy: Not to sound cocky or make myself out to be better than Chet but I think if anyone would be Gaming mod it should be myself or Miller. We both visit this side of the forum every day and make posts and conversation. We're both huge gamers. I'm always checking this section for new things and posting discussion threads.

Oh yeah, truly inspiring. Although I love my COD games I liken Battlefield 3 to a war simulator, rather than a game. Excited to check out End Game. The graphics for Medal of Honor: Warfighter are pretty great too. EA as a company though....can't say I'll ever purchase another game by them. They really need to get their shit together...Really disappointed that they pulled support from MoH after only being on the shelves for a few months, pretty ridiculous as it is a great game and could be even better with the bugs fixed.
