That's like me getting a Tucker jersey from Tampa lol.

Because I like to get weird Jerseys. I'd lean more towards a Salo from Ottawa because he played there for a very short period of time, compared to Tampa.

Plus I own a lot of Canucks jerseys. I like to have a variety.

I love that Jersey. I might try and find another one to get done up as a Cloutier, but I'm not sure yet.

We drafted him as well.

Canucks defensive prospect Frank Corrado is going to make his NHL debut tonight playing with Alex Edler.

We took Corrado in the 5th round in 2011, but then he came out of fucking nowhere and got nominated for OHL defenseman of the year, and Bob McKenzie said he only didn't make the Canadian WJC team because it would look bad for a 5th rounder to beat out a 1st rounder (He should have had Murphy's spot apparently).

5th rounders don't bust though, you're lucky if they ever even play one NHL game. For him to get his first game at 20 (just turned 20 in march) is pretty cool.

Bieksa was drafted in the 5th round too, which is cool. After Bieksa finished university he went to the Manitoba Moose on an ATO (the Canucks hadn't signed him yet). When he went out to the bar, he spilled another Canuck prospect at the time's, Fedor Fedorov (the shitty, younger, Fedorov), beer. Bieksa offered to buy him another 'beer, but Fedor challenged him to a fight.

Bieksa one punch Fedor, and thought he'd never get signed because Fedor was one of our top prospects at the time. When Burke heard that Bieksa had one punched Fedorov, he signed Bieksa right away.

When I found that out, it made me like Bieksa a lot more. I wasn't really a Bieksa fan until a few years ago, his interviews are fucking dope. One time he called into the radio station here, and in the middle of the interview he yells "Oh shit! One second, COP!" and drops his phone because he was driving while giving the interview.

Frank Corrado got third star in his NHL debut. He played like 17:00 of ice time, and completely shut down Patty Kane every time he was on the ice. He was so fricken calm for a rookie. He plays just like Tanev, not that it means much to you guys LOL

Keep 'em in the West if he turns out to be any good lol

Fun fact: Corrado's shot is clocked at over 100 mph. If he sticks in the lineup, we have Edler, Garrison, and Corrado with top level shots. Then Bieksa, and Hamhuis are good at pinching, and Tanevs got a sexy first pass.

Dat D offense.

I think that's pretty subjective depending on what you're talking about from defense. I'd say Karlsson is probably the best offensive defenseman in the NHL without a doubt. However, he's a bit questionable in his own end (but not horrible by any means). The Canucks defense is mainly defensive guys (with the exception of Edler and sometime Bieksa) who have a good shot or good first pass.

I'm not sure who the best defensive defenseman would be in the NHL now.

bigray wrote:2 season ago yes Karlsson was not great in his own end.... But last season he was great at both ends defensively and offensively.

He skates so quickly and comes back and steals the pack from u without a penalty and when he has the puck the problem is taking it away from him, by the time u try to hit him or take the puck he has already made that pass to one of the forwards for a possible goal, if he doesn't pass the puck he will skate around u.

He went in 10/11 from a - 30 to +16 in 11/12

People from other cities use to come to Sens games just to watch Karlsson play or they will tune in on there cable.. He is a special player.

I don't expect much from him on Thursday except to give us a boost on our power play which is terrible right now..

I think I maybe didn't come across properly in how I worded that. Karlsson is elite when it comes to offense, but just good when it comes to being in his own end. You have to realize that his +/- is inflated because of the amount of points he had. I'm not saying he's bad in his own end at all.

I'm just talking about, I wonder who the elite defensive defense-man in the NHL is. I'm talking about guys like Hedman, Mitchell, Ohlund, and so on that put up little in points, but still have good +/- because they're so good in their own end.

U can throw in Volchenkov in that mix as well I would say, maybe a few seasons ago but not counting points.

That's a tough question and pretty interesting.

Volchenkov was amazing a few seasons ago. He blocked shots like a motherfucker and his hits were killer. I used to want him on Vancouver so bad, when he signed in New Jersey I was crushed :'(

Jason Garrison certainly isn't an elite defensive D, but man has he been special this year for Vancouver. If his shot isn't going in the net, it's injuring players on the other team. His plus minus is great too.
