Also it's on arguably his best album and I'd much rather listen to other songs on the album, and other songs in his discography that deal with a similar subject matter such as 25 To Life.

@ SajN, you bastard. I seen you post that in the Vet Section.

Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait... Are you really saying that 25 To Life is better than Say Goodbye To Hollywood...?

If someone likes a song or album more than another, it's just a matter of preference.

For example, I love the Marshall Mathers LP and it's my favourite album in Em's discography but The Eminem Show is his most complete album as an artist.

Well he said he thinks it's boring and that he doesn't like the hook and then mentions 25 To Life which has an incredibly annoying hook and one of the worst beats ever lol. I just don't see how someone would rather listen to 25 over hollywood.

Say Goodbye to Hollywood has some of his best verses, 25 To Life is incredibly unoriginal and generic.

Hey come on now don't be agressive. The guy is right. Your opinion is wrong if you think Say Goodbye Hollywood is not a lot better than 25 to life.

:shifty:

But seriously, it's better.

I just want him to explain WHY. I think it's pretty obvious which song is better here. He can prefer it but I don't even know if he agrees that Hollywood is the better song.

And jesus, don't get so riled up, Stanley.

Please give reasons why 25 To Life is better. I'd like to see someone try to defend that song :s

So..you prefer I Used to Love H.E.R. because it deals with similar subject matter as 25 To Life, but better, in your opinion?

I called 25 To Life unoriginal and generic because he basically tried to remake I Used To Love H.E.R. Common executed it way better as well.

InsaneTRex94 wrote:And you don't seem to be able to understand something that a 3rd grader should be able to.

What do I not understand..? I understand that he prefers 25 To Life but I'd like him to explain why lyrically 25 To Life is better (if he thinks that, if he doesn't then this argument is pointless).

Menzo wrote:He said he finds it boring, what more do you want? A fuckin step-by-step analysis?

If he thinks 25 To Life is the better song, I'd like him to explain WHY. Not just because the hook is boring or whatever.

This is a message board, is it not? Are we allowed to discuss music here?

Geno wrote: I Used to Love H.E.R. is boring as well. I'll never listen to it again, actually. Now let's keep other rappers out of the discussion since you brought Common up and I didn't.

Lol was that actually your first time hearing it? jesus.

Geno wrote:Beat: 25 To Life - because looking at SGH's beat, it pales in comparison to the other far more superior, similar sounding beats of TES. 25 To Life sounds fresh from an Eminem perspective.

This all comes down to personal preference and doesn't usually change what I think of a song, but really? The 25 To Life beat is incredibly poppy and almost technoish, Say Goodbye To Hollywood at least had an interesting beat.

Geno wrote:Lyrics: 25 To Life - Not because of multies, or whatever you wanna argue with me about, but because the whole song, the ENTIRE song, has a double meaning. "jealous when I spend time with the girls" could be referring to other women when talking about the girl 25 To Life is about, or about his daughters, since it's about Hip-Hop. That's just one example. SGH has some really lazy lines like the one I mentioned earlier in the thread, "forced us to live alienated" - the first half of it drags and flows awfully.

Okay now I find this ridiculous. Multies are incredibly overrated so I don't care much about that but most of the writing on 25 To Life is very lazy ("planet, ran it" comes to mined, the step part), while on Say Goodbye To hollywood his technical skill is there while not deteriorating the actual lyrics.

Aside from the incredibly unoriginal content (it's one of the most overused concepts in hip hop), he doesn't even pull it off. You can't give away the premise halfway through the damn song. Did you not know what he was talking about after the not loyal part..?

And no, the song doesn't have a double meaning, it's pretty obvious what he meant. He's rapping about hip hop, the jealous when I spend time with the girls part means that fans or whatever don't want him doing anything else other than releasing music but that part is pretty redundant.

Geno wrote:Voice - Tie. Both are equally passionate.

:s Screaming vs one of the best deliveries in rap.

Geno wrote:Hook - 25 To Life. You wanna talk unoriginal and generic? Look at SGH's hook.

Neither of them are all that special imo.

I just don't see how these songs are even comparable. I mean come on, have you listened to Say Goodbye To Hollywood? It's a look into Eminem's personal life and the problems caused by fame, 25 To Life is just his attempt at an overused concept

Aww, I think you guys are being a little harsh on him lol. I actually think Say Goodbye to Hollywood is better too. His flow on 25 to Life is too distracting for me.

EDIT. I agree with you Accor but I don't think you are defending your standpoint effectively.

Nah I never said the rhyming was lazy. Just the flow on some lines. Rhymes on both songs are impressive but the fact that 25 To Life all has a double meaning puts it higher on my list in terms of what's more impressive to me.

I love the sample used on 25 To Life, it's great. I heard it's the same chick who sings the one by SH.

Geno do you think SGTH is a better song regardless of the fact you prefer 25 To Life?
