so heres my review, after listening once. i probably left some shit out. im gonna go track by track then do some overall stuff.
Bad Guy: I like the beat in the 1st half alot, and the second half is great. I could say more, but so many people heavily reviewed this track
Parking Lot: Sweet how it picks up where MMLP's criminal skit left off
Rhyme or Reason: Nice flow, I really like the bridges changing, from Marshall to shady
So Much Better: Pretty Good, the bridge is cool-ish. The BJ is funny. 99 problems line is GOAT. Verse 3 is nice, also the references in here, and throughout the album, are sick.
Survival : Survival is just survival, it fits OK with the album. Im wondering, why are there so many uncredited features with people like Sia, and in this case, liz rodriques?
Legacy:Cool voice during legacy, hook is . Did anyone else notice that his rhyme scheme didnt change for the entire song
Asshole: Not at all what i expected. The third verse is bleh. The cool part was that was his third time mentioning 'cup runneth over' during a song.
Berzerk:Still a good song, doesnt really fit in with the album.
Rap God: GOATEST song, and having it after Berzerk is just great
Brainless:cool horrorcore/ relapsey feel. Relapse type lyrics with a better beat choice. Good hook. Eminem finally gets to use those 60 minutes 'rhymes with orange' lines. He says yo more than Jesse does at one point, bitch. Also funny outro
Stronger Than I Was: 1st impression: wtf
2nd verse: Still wtf
3rd Verse: Thank God - Rapping! ish..
this is cool i guess but so slow ugh. I guess the whole maybe being kims perspective is cool. I have a feeling this will be radio-popular.
Monster: This song actually fits in super well with the whole album
So Far: Intro . Cool beat, some nice double entendres in the 1st verse. Hook is weird imo. nice name drop of berzerk and asshole in this song. End of verse 2 HOLY SHIT! I guess he doesnt change
Love Game : Nice name drops. Kendricks voice changes are fire. Good flows, I dont like the beat though. Alright song, but not up to expectations.
Headlights:Cool apology to his mom, but i winder if he is serioulsy willing to forgive her... At least this apology is slightly more serious sounding than cleaning out my closets apology. Brother of em is nate, and Nate Ruess sings this... Hmm.., especially becuase eminem name drops Nate more than once. Reminds me of 'Mother" by John Lennon.
Evil Twin:Really grabbed my attention after slow song. Cool when he gives Shady the verse halfway through. Really cool concept. Royce da 5'9 part . Maybe another royce EP/LP? . The leave it to beaver line was funny. Also Cop-porn. Overall the Em to Slim switches are dop as fuck.
Baby:I dont have much of an opinion, but i seriously hope he outsells biebers baby. he wont, but still. *fingers crossed* The hook here sucks.
Desperation:No opinion again. Funny, the doorbell part happened just as i was expecting the door to ring. The hook is alright.
Groundhog Day: I like the beat. The part about moving is interesting. Hes asking his mom nicely here, rather than angrily like in other songs. Cool storytelling I guess.
Beautiful Pain:Reminds me alot of LTWYL. It gets a little better as it continues. GOAT ending.
Wicked Ways: Hook sounds familiar... Aspergers part remids me of that thread we had.. That Ken ending is classic.
THINGS I NOTICED
I think its kinda weird that theres only one guest artist thats a rapper...
I think this album will be a classic, and the references alone make it GOAT
I really like all the throwbacks to old stuff, especially the stuff that was originally on MMLP
Some funny jokes about relapse, but nothing at all bashing relapse and recovery.
Well i left out tons of stuff, becuase typing this short rwview alone took me 45 minutes, but i really like this so far. My favorite parts are definitely the wordlplay and references to other songs and pop culture stuff. I dont really know my favorite songs yet tbh.
well this is my review ! Word rick word man
