I did, but it seems you don't value my opinions on this topic as much as his...

Accor, why do you think this movie is good? Also, why do people detest it? (I haven't seen it, btw)

Just seen Lone Survivor. Awesome movie. The fact that it's based on a true story really hits home, especially in the credits when they show pictures of the real guys that went through it. The acting was great and the shooting scenes were pretty badass. I want to watch it again, right now.

It's polarizing because on the surface it can seem pretty mindless; people see a film about bikinis and spring break and immediately turn away. The reviews probably reflect that, and the fact that the film doesn't directly condemn its hedonistic nature.

It isn't a traditional film, I don't think. It's very dense and confusing and can be read in lots of different ways. I don't want to give anything away and you should definitely watch it. The editing, cinematography, and score give it an incredibly engrossing atmosphere and James Franco is great in it. As a visceral experience it's something else, and it's a movie people will be analyzing for years to come.

lol thanks, but I definitely do have trouble talking about movies, especially determining their quality. Weighing out how different facets of a film effect it's quality is always tough. It's easier with music for me. There obviously isn't a checklist of things to go through with movies or music, different things require different things, but with movies it seems a bit more abstract. idk m8

I find movies are pretty hard to rate and judge. Like it's hard to articulate everything you want to say in a nice fashion. It's easier to just keep it in your head but obviously it's good to verbally critique and express opinions.
