What do I feel about Dre... First I would say that without Dre hip hop would not be anything close to what it is today. While people like Cube, the DOC and Snoop set up the west coast as far as MC's go, Dre provided an extremely distinct sound for the West and one that has been used many times over since. Without Dre there would have been no Snoop, Em, and more. As for present day he's become more of a brand, a franchise than actually doing stuff in the genre. His big expedentures seem to be his Beats by Dre line, Beats Music ad anything Beats related. While I wish Dre would put out more work in the actual best making department today and would like Detox (although if it doesn't come out I won't be disappointed.) I don't have an overt issue with what Dre has become. Just kind of wish he would do more production for guys like Q, Kendrick, and other young upcoming guys

I just read on a hip hop site that Dr. Dre has sold his Beats line to Apple for Billions of dollars. That collaboration with Jimmy is quite lucrative now! The whole history of Jimmy and Dre is rather interesting. Jimmy went to Atlantic Records at first to create a hip hop genre they worried about the publicity so when they dropped him he went and created Interscope. Jimmy and Dre have been making money in this industry for decades now. I feel like musically Dr. Dre has a preset pattern where he makes music that speaks to the ghetto, or those of us who have climbed out of the ghetto. When a person looks at him from a different lens of reality he has this school with Jimmy

To me this is action movement. It is like the saying "Actions speak louder then words." His lyrics and words are a gritty dark struggling world of where Andre came from and his actions are a man who wants to see people grow and move in life.
Sometimes he promotes artists and they don't go very far. Well I don't think it's his job to make the artist, it's his job to provide an artist he signs with opportunities. He does this and more. My opinion of him has changed a lot over the years.

Absolutely... the production Dre's done for Em is totally different to the one he's done for his solo records.
As a matter of fact there's always different sound/feel when Dre produces for different type of artists/acts.
His production list if fucking insane... :worship:
