yeah that song is way better than Brainless. it would have easily been a top 5 song on the album.

I concur

:y:

Groundhog Day wipes the floor with Brainless, no question.

I think Legacy is an incredible song. I don't understand why I don't think of it as being a 'classic' b/c it ticks a lot of the boxes for me...Maybe it just needs time, idk.

I do see Brainless as the spiritual sequel to Brain Damage. It's more or less current Eminem's take on the same events, and a good comparison of how Eminem decades apart would write the same song. I'll always see Brain Damage as superior though. There are even other similarities aside from content (bullying, mentions of his mother). The choruses have always struck me as similar, along with these lines in particular where he's really just playing with what he can rhyme.

Eminem on Brain Damage wrote:Then I got up and ran to the janitor's storage booth
Kicked the door hinge loose and ripped out the four inch screws
Grabbed some sharp objects, brooms and foreign tools
This is for every time you took my orange juice

Eminem on Brainless wrote:Been using it more as a bin for storage, take some inventory
In this gourd there's a Ford engine, door hinge, syringe, an orange,
An extension cord, and a Ninja sword,
Not to mention four linchpins, an astringent stored
Ironing board, a bench, a wrench an oru winch, an attention whore

I'm sure other similarities could be caught. Oh and, I don't think Brainless is a "classic" song, whatever that word means, but it's a good one.

@Brainless bruh, whenever these retards are giving you a hard time, just PM me the topic name, I got you.
Haven't properly sonned Horse, Slik and whoever the last guy is, in a loooong time.
Unless you're arguing with SWA, EmBase, Menzo or Vintage, in which case you're probably wrong.

1. Mods, ban the word "classic".
2.
In some ways Groundhog day is better than Rap god and Bad Guy, but those two songs are more impactful

Blasphemy!!!

Brainless actually had a cool, loose concept (which he also discusses briefly in Legacy) of "brains over brawn" and "pen is mightier than the sword." Just wish he stuck to that concept more and didn't get carried away with the random multis even if they were fun to listen to in the first verse.

perfect comparison of the two songs. In Brain Damage he's telling a coherent and linear story and in Brainless he's just listing all the words he can think of at random with no connection or purpose

the words themselves have no connection or purpose. Just random things he's listing because of the assonance

Yeah but that's probably why he follows it up with, "anything but a brain" cuz he's listing a bunch of random shit like you said...like...literally anything besides a brain...lol. I don't know, I think trying to nitpick that is a bit much.

i know...i get why he did it but that still isn't very good justification for the lines existence. It doesn't accomplish anything other than "oh look how crazy I am" and ends up just being pointless. It's not really nitpicking when the biggest flaw in the lyrics are them not having a purpose and are just him showing off his rhyming and that was a good example of it

I think the lines on Brainless are pretty dope imo. I don't know why a bunch of people keep comparing it to Brain Damage. Just let it stand alone by itself and it's a cool track... When you compare the 2 songs side by side you're bound to have disappointment in some way or another.

the lines make sense but that doesn't mean they aren't pointless. They accomplish nothing. They don't add anything to the track that wasn't already there before those lines. MMLP2 has a lot of lyrics that don't actually say anything...just rehashing the same topics and themes as always but in less creative ways.

And idk how comparable the tracks actually are cause i've barely listened to mmlp2 but the whole time i was listening to brainless i remember thinking why aren't i just listening to brain damage instead so that makes me think the comparisons are justified.

Remember that thing people on here were talking about a while back when the album leaked, about thinking of songs and thinking of colors? well I'm not sure if I have it, but it still happens to me. so I kinda felt like showing how I see the songs

1. Bad Guy
2. Parking Lot (Skit)
3. Rhyme or Reason
4. So Much Better
5. Survival
6. Legacy
7. Asshole (feat. Skylar Grey)
8. Berzerk
9. Rap God
10. Brainless (it's actually supposed to be more of a pinkish-orangish, but I couldn't find that color)
11. Stronger Than I Was
12. The Monster (feat. Rihanna)
13. So Far...
14. Love Game (feat. Kendrick Lamar)
15. Headlights (feat. Nate Ruess)
16. Evil Twin
17. Baby
18. Desperation (feat. Jamie N. Commons)
19. Groundhog Day
20. Beautiful Pain
21. Wicked Ways (feat. X Ambassadors)
22. Don't Front (feat. Buckshot)
You thought I was lyin' when I said I think that I'm crossin' the line again?
I've lost my mind, caution oh God I think I've just thought of another fucking line

Like I'm locked up inside a shot up Bonnie and Clyde car
Uncle Ronnie is driving, 'bout to burst in through the side door
Of Arkham Asylum and park in the dining room

THANK YOU, TRSHADY!!!
