I do see Brainless as the spiritual sequel to Brain Damage. It's more or less current Eminem's take on the same events, and a good comparison of how Eminem decades apart would write the same song. I'll always see Brain Damage as superior though. There are even other similarities aside from content (bullying, mentions of his mother). The choruses have always struck me as similar, along with these lines in particular where he's really just playing with what he can rhyme.
Eminem on Brain Damage wrote:Then I got up and ran to the janitor's storage booth
Kicked the door hinge loose and ripped out the four inch screws
Grabbed some sharp objects, brooms and foreign tools
This is for every time you took my orange juice
Eminem on Brainless wrote:Been using it more as a bin for storage, take some inventory
In this gourd there's a Ford engine, door hinge, syringe, an orange,
An extension cord, and a Ninja sword,
Not to mention four linchpins, an astringent stored
Ironing board, a bench, a wrench an oru winch, an attention whore
I'm sure other similarities could be caught. Oh and, I don't think Brainless is a "classic" song, whatever that word means, but it's a good one.
